It was long long time since my last travel plans to tirunelveli and back. This time around i.e., last week thought of vijayawada-bhadrachalam-hyderabad-srisailam, scaned through the websites got all information necessary for my travel.

My XUV was also rearing to go, me and my wife were all set and took off on 8th october. We for a long time wanted to visit Goddess Kanaka Durga Temple and the route followed was Bangalore -chittoor-tirupati-gudur-nellore-kavali-ongole-guntur-vijayawada. Left Bangalore at around 6.30pm and reached vijayawada at around 5pm. Scouted for hotels had made note to stay at The Gateway but rooms were not available and settled for Fortune Murali Park. Hotel is a dungeon, with dirty bathrooms and baby cockroaches crawling all over place. It was no help from the house keeping or reception. Our stay was scheduled for a day and was already tired to go elsewhere. Food was bad the only saving grace was breakfast. Morning we visited Goddess Kanaka Durga Temple it was aboubt 3-4kms from the hotel in M.G. Road. It took about 1hr for the darshanam. It was a splendid darshanam, felt at peace and all the discomfort of driving just vanished. Road was ok, it was two way and one should be very careful about cattle crossing your path. Distance is about 700kms.

Imediately after darshan, we relaxed for an hour and decided to travel to Bhadrachalam. Took the route from vijayawada through gorantla-tadepallegudem-kothagudem. we had decided to stay at kothagudem which was about 40kms from bhadrachalam and since we had plans of visiting Hyderabad, kothagudem suited our plans. I had zeroed on Hotel Lepakshi a small and decent hotel. Next day visited Bhadrachalam, peaceful darshan. Lord Rama with his escort and laxman. Hanuman is omnipresent Lord rama is with shanka and chakra with four hands. The temple is associated with the Rama Bhakta saint Ramadasu. Except for 1hr travel all went fine. Total distance upto Bhadrachalam is 186kms time taken is 4hrs, roads are ok.

After Darshan we set our drive to Hyderabad through Khammam-suryapet-hyderabad. Upto suryapet it is SH and the road is infested with cattles and at times it drives you crazy from suryapet it is NH till Hyderabad settled at hotel Royalton at abids, shabby treatment by the Manager of the Hotel, later the GM and MD apologised profusely and pampered with discount coupons and fruit basket, still decided not to stay at Hotel Royalton ever. We made a city visit stayed at Hyderabad for two days. Distance is 314kms travel time is 5.30hrs.

Srisailam was their on our plans for a long time so left hyderabad to visit srisailam through Kadtal-Amangol-Kalawakurty-Dindi-Hajipur-Mannur-srisailam. Roads were great the roads inside the forest were superb and the scenery is amazing it was a great drive and very modest traffic. It took us 1hr for darshan. Srisailam is one of the twelve jyothirlingas. Distance from hyderabad 213 kms time taken is 4hrs.

After srisailam we set our travel to Kurnool for the night stay route taken was Srisailam-Dornala-Atmakur-kurnool. Upto Dornala road is good from Dornala to Kurnool it is Good, Bad and Ugly. Most part of it is ugly. In My opinion the Highway was non existent is some places so it is "Ugly" where a single road was their is "Bad" and double road was found but was in terrible condition added to this the torture of cattle's occupying most part of the road. The drive was torturous and tiring. The road is carved through thick forest. Overnight stay was at kurnool, next day we drove from kurnool to Bangalore. Beautiful Highway 360kms.
