Can anyone recommend a peaceful budget place where i can rest up for an afternoon and night after international flight before i head to Mysore by bus?
Was thinking maybe something south of Bangalore on the way to Mysore...would be nice to find something outside the city, but the city will do - although from what i have read so far Bangalore seems expensive (at least for my budget) below Rs600?

Last year we arrived in Bangalore airport around 04.00 also after a long day and night flight just went straight on to Mysore (via Bangalore bus station)got there around 08.00.
Think by the time you go into Bangalore look for a place to stay you could be half way to Mysore

You certainly have a point there - i could just take taxi to bus station. Did you have to go all the way into Bangalore centre to catch a bus?
Does anyone perhaps know how to connect to a bus to mysore from near the airport?
Thanks dcamrass1

tough luck - to go to mysore from airport, you have to pass thru the city anyway. so, an airport express to city bus stand (or station) & bus/train to mysore is the best option.

it is certainly tough to get a bed in BLR for 600, if anything your chances of under 1K options are much higher near the bus stand/station v/s airport...

on the other hand, you might have some options in mysore for that price. i recall staying at KSTDC hotel near station for 900, the nearby yatrinivas had rooms for 700.

If remember (after so many hours without sleep!)at the bus station there were some buses to Mysore with different prices so check (maybe because we were foreigners),also it wont go till has enough passengers on board, a common thing in India.

that might be the case with private buses. so stick to KSRTC buses (they have a scheduled departure time) - if you can book before hand, even better.

Thanks guys, thinking it over i am pretty sure that i will be too exhausted to take bus to Mysore on the same day (even if its only 3 hours) and i will rather get a room near bus stand or station and catch a bus to Mysore the next day. Thanks for KSRTC tip.
