We wish to make a visit to Arunachal in late this October. We don't want to stay at Guwahati but have definite desire to pay a visit to Kamakshya temple. Wish to know :-

1. Any good stay option within a radious of 1-2 Kms of Kamakshya temple.
2. Is the place safe specially in the night time.

I'm bit worried since I would be visiting with the elderly persons.

Ghosal , have you found or contacted any other hotel in that area apart from those listed in that page ? If so, please share the contact nos. We are also planning a trip to Guwahati & Shillong . This will surely be of great help for us.

In my case, I'm not interested to stay in Guwahati. Many budget/star hotels are available in the town. I wish stay in and around Kamaksya temple so that adequate time could be given to watch many of the other temples around the main temple. Also, we would be driving out through that route via Sualkuchi to Nameri. I'm in search of suitable accommodation there and incase I manage to find out, I'll surely let you know.

In winter. Dates are not fixed yet though. Thinking to add Kaziranga also if time permits.

Hi
I have just returned from a short trip from Guwahati and had been to Kamakhya.Had to wait for 4hrs in line for darshan ( special line has been abolished by govt. recently).I can suggest the safest bet to stay in Kamakhya is Prasanti Tourist Lodge.I cannot comment exactly on the state of the rooms but it is definitly on a very good location and safe (safe since I felt the other hotels are very much cramped up and huddled all around main Mandir). The tourist lodge is around 1km from Mandir.

Thanks
Aurjoma

In that case, call up Prashanti Tourist Lodge of Guwahati,I had spoken to them.
Ask for Kamakhya Tourist lodge contact number.Normally they take bookings on call but if its a rush time then I guess process would be different.

Thnaks for the input. Have opted the suggestion but the sad part it that the lodge at Kamakshya is temporarily closed and they won't take booking even for the month of October since the opening is uncertain. It seems I've to give up the idea and stay at Guwahati itself.

Oops..that's bad news. This is the problem with govt run hotels..best location worse service.Anyways if you are planning to stay in Guwahati, you can try Prasanti tourist lodge too.
Though I had preferred to stay out of chaos of Paltanbazar and choose Riverview guest house in Uzanbazar.

Hi Ghosal,

Kamakhya temple is about 2-3km from NF Railway HQ, Maligaon. So, you can easily get many accommodations as per your requirement.
