My trip plan follows.

Day 1: Reach Guwhati by flight at Morning check in hotel. Visit Kamakhya Temple. If Time permits do some local sight scene (Including Zoo)

Day 2: Nabagraha temple and Perumal temple

Day 3: Start to Shillong at early morning and check in hotel. Shilong sightscene Umiam Lake, Elephant Falls, Mawjymbuin Cave

Day 4: Mawphlang Falls,Lumpongdeng Island, Shilong Church

Day 5: Start to Cherrapunji early morning. Double Decker Living Root Bridge, Nohkalikai Falls,Mawsmai Cave and back to Shilong and night stay.

Day 6: Start from Shillong to Guwahati Aiport and then reach Kolkata.

My questions:
1. What is the best time to go there. I will have 3 senior citizens with me. So I do not want hectic tour.

2. Where should I stay? Is there any accommodation available by Assam Tourism and Meghalaya Tourism?

3. Do I need any post paid mobile connection?
Thanks,
Raktim Sarkar

I would suggest you skip the day 2 program and go straight to cherrapunji from Guwahati. Spend 2 night there. Later you can come back to stay one night at Shillong if needed. Cherrapunji holiday resort is a good option. You will find many options suitable to your budget near the police bazaar area.

Will I get cab from Guwahati Airport to Cherrapunji? What is the total travel time? Is there any hotel of Meghalay tourism there?

You may not get direct car to Cherrapunji. Hire a cab upto Shillong and then book a local taxi to cherrapunji. You may also ask your hotel to give you a pickup from Shilong. As far as I remember there is airport car service from Meghalaya tourism. Counter is beside the exit gate. That is cheap. Total journey time is approx 5 hour (Shillog 3 hour). Check hotels here

Shillong sightseeing can be completed in 1 day, Sohra sightseeing plus Double Decker Living roots bridge will take 2 days, so better stay one or better still two nights in Sohra. The extra day you have, you can visit Mawlynnong/Dawki/Shnongpdeng. This covers the basic essential Meghalaya circuit, there are so many more places to see provided you have the time.

This is what I would suggest-

Day 1: Reach Guwhati by flight at Morning check in hotel. Visit Kamakhya Temple. If Time permits do some local sight scene (Including Zoo)

Day 2: Guwahati - Mawlynnong- Dawki - Shnongpdeng. Some sightseeing in between. Halt at either Mawlynnong / Shnongpdeng

Day 3: Start for Sohra. Sohra sightseeing. Halt at Sohra

Day 4: Double Decker Living Roots bridges trek. Either stay back at Sohra or proceed to Shillong

Day 5: Sohra - Mawphlang - Shillong. Relaxing Shillong sightseeing. Halt.

Day 6: Start from Shillong to Guwahati Aiport and then reach Kolkata.

Best time to visit is around Durga Pujo holidays.

As for more options for stay I would recommend checking out the following link. Sometimes private hotels/guesthouses offer better services that Govt run hotels. In Shillong I would recommend staying in and around Lachumiere/Dhankheti/Laitumkhrah area than Police Bazaar which is too congested. In Sohra, You can check out Kutmadan Resort or Saimika Resort.

From your revised plan, I am unable to under stand which part is in Shillong and which part is in Cherrapunji? Also you mentioned about halts in few unknown places? Will I get sufficient hotels there?

I have just suggested you to halt at Mawlynnong, Sohra and Shillong. The most common places in the diaries of fellow tourists. Very basic Meghalaya itinerary. No Mawphlang, Mawlyngbna, Mawphanlur, Nongkhnum, Mairang, Kongthong, Amlarem, Jowai, Nartiang, Laitlum, Mawlyngngot, Syntung, Sohliya, Umden, etc etc
