I will reach Guwahati at 8 PM on 22 January. Then I need to go to Aizawl. Is there any bus to Aizawl or Silchar after that time? How much time the buses spend to reach to Aizawl/Silchar?

Hi Neeraj!

Please find the reply to your queries below:-

1) Buses to Aizawl leave in the first half of the day, and reach Aizawl by next day early morning.

2) The scheduled last bus for Silchar leaves at 7 P.M, that too from ISBT which is about 15 KM from the Railway station. It takes about 11-12 hours to reach Silchar from Guwahati in a bus. And another 5-6 hours from Silchar to Aizawl.

3) Ideally you should halt at Guwahati for the night, take the bus to Aizawl the next day.

Or

4) Take a early morning bus from Guwahati to Silchar, halt the night at Silchar, then take a shared Sumo or a bus from Silchar to Aizawl the next day.

5) Another point to consider is that the roads are in bad state, and the buses too are not in great shape, and above that the best seats i.e the front or middle ones are booked early, so there are more chances that you'll end up having the last seats, which'll be one hell of a bumpy ride.

Now some good news

6) Assuming you'll reach Guwahati by train, just behind the Railway station towards Paltan Bazar side, most travel companies have their city offices, where they book the tickets, as well as ply a shuttle service free of cost to transport the passengers from the city to the ISBT, from where their buses depart. The best service providers are Capital travels, and Network travels, both of which have their offices just 200-300 meters outside the Railway station on the Paltan bazar side.

In case you need any other clarification, please feel free

Thank you style guru. Now I will go to Lumding and catch morning train for Silchar. It is better than halt in Guwahati for the night and bear bumpy roads for next 17-18 hours.

In that case, you shall have to spend a few hours at Lumding station, which gets pretty deserted during nights. I would advice you against travelling out of Lumding Station looking for a hotel during late night hours.

If at all you are looking to travel to Lumding, then try and be within the waiting hall, or see if a retiring room can be arranged for the time you shall have to spend there in between trains.

I traveled in December last week.
there are night buses to Silchar .To my knowledge the last bus starts at 10PM.
It takes 8-10 hours to reach Silchar.
Some part of road is horrible .

Take a night bus to Silchar and reach next morning then get a Sumo and by after noon you will reach Aizawl.

Traveling to Lumding and again come to Silchar I wont advice.

I have completed this trip. Guwahati to Silchar by road is worst idea. I will never suggest this route. Train from Lumding is better especially night train. Flight is the best option.
