Thanks ApurbaK

If we cancel tea gardens, is there any other place worth visiting but not in the itinerary as we have 1 day extra.

Also in terms of direction and distance , are we good ? GW > SH >CH > GW
I hope we are not going back and forth with this itinerary.

Depending on the arrival time of your plane in Guwahati consider a connecting flight to Jorhat.
There are many tea estates around the place, maybe you can stay at one of them.
Other options our of Jorhat are a day trip to Majuli Island or a half day trip to the Gibbon sanctuary in nearby Mariani.

We traveled by car from Jorhat to Kaziranga in less then two hours.
Details are in the North-East journal in my signature.

It does not make sense to do Sohra then proceed to Mawlynnong and then come back to Sohra after that.

Also do you want to cover only Shillong, Sohra & Mawlynnong in Meghalaya?

Karikor,

We are open to include any other 'must see' places. We have 1 day extra in hand.

How do you recommend Mawlynnong should be covered in terms of direction.

Do you have any plans to do the Double Decker Living Roots Bridge trek to Nongriat from Sohra.

For the extra day, you can choose from the following:

Umden Silk Village
Mawphlang Sacred Groves
Mawlyngbna Fossils etc
Mawphanlur Hill top Lakes

Thanks for your input.

25th Jan is for the trek, so there is nothing else planned that day.

The Double Decker Living Roots bridge trek is not in mawlynnong. It starts from Tyrna 12-13 km south of Sohra and ends at Nongriat. Infact I would suggest staying the night at Nongriat itself so that you can explore the area more and then next day trek up to Sohra via the nohkalikai route.

Mawlynnong will be around 90-100km from Sohra. So keep that also in mind. So 6-7 hours will just be wasted in travelling from Shillong to Sohra, Sohra to Mawlynnong and then Mawlynnong back to Sohra. Keep in mind that sunset in winters is around 4:30 pm out here

Hence I would recommend that you complete all places in and around Sohra before proceeding towards Mawlynnong- Dawki - Shnongpdeng side.

Assam Meghalaya Itinerary Suggestion Jan21-29, 2017

Hi

We are travelling to Guwahati on 21st jan, 2017. We have 11 adults and 1 three yrs old child in our group. 3 adults of our group are above 55 yrs of age. I have planned for the following itinerary during our short trip (from 21-29 jan) in assam & meghalaya.

I need your help for two purposes.

1. Please check the itinerary and let me know if it is feasible for our group or is there any change required in it.
2. Can you please suggest any tour operator / travel agency of guwahati who can take responsibility of the entire tour (including bf, lunch, dinner at different places, tour and hotel booking) for 11 adults and 1 child of our group. I just don't want a lavish package and modification in the itinerary by the tour operator.

21st Sat – arrive at GW and proceed to Kaziranga (GW to KZ 4 hrs drive) .o/n at KZ
22nd Sun – Early morning elephant safari, Jeep safari. o/n at KZ
23rd Mon – KZ to Shillong (7 hrs drive) . Cover Umaim lake, evening stroll on the way
24th Tue – Elephant Falls, Shillong local sighseeing, Cathedral Mary, Ward’s lake, police bazaar. Shillong view point,Don
Bosco Musuem. o/n at SH
25th Wed - Drive to Cherapunjee (2 hrs drive) , Mawlynnong village and hike Living root bridge o/n at CH
26th Thur - cover Seven Sister Falls, Nahkhalikai Falls, Mwasmai Cave. o/n CH
27th Fri – Drive to Guwahati, Kamakhya temple,
28th Sat - Guwahati to Umananda island or a sunset cruise on Brahmaputra.o/n GW
29th Sun - return to Kol

Thanks
Sanjib

I would recommend completing Sohra first before heading to Mawlynnong. Also Living Roots bridge trek should have one complete day to do it.
