Art books online
Recently, while looking for detail of ajrakh, I came across a scanned version of pupul jayakars 'textiles of India' on MoMa's website.
Does anyone know if other similar sources exist for rare / out of print books?
I'm interested in Indian antiquities, textiles, art etc and also historical photographs.
thanks in advance.

Maybe help for textiles the The Calico Museum of Textiles has publications, do not know if this what you are looking for

Thank you, but I've seen their site. I'm not looking to purchase such a book online - but for reference purposes some have online copies available that can be searched though.

Interesting topic. One of my Aunts in law did such a book. I finally tracked it down and my spouse refused to spend that much money on a book
. Its a hard time for artists..

The USA Library of Congress has a pretty good collection of Indian Historical photos and prints.

Thanks SG - it was close, but textiles India, handwoven textiles India, etc return limited results in the book section. I'll keep looking, maybe british sources have more info?

British Library is all that I can guess. Doubt the Library of Congress has digitized that much on this topic..

I have no idea of what you are looking for as my knowledge of textile in India, or for that matter elsewhere too, is pretty non existent.
But if I were to put in some key words and search on google, I could get some answers - see if they are of any help.

I am sure you have tried these. But I have to make an attempt of helping out poor lost souls, no?

No i hadn't infact. Man you're a genius! This was not at all what i wanted but after i removed the extra word from your search and added something I made it to the mother-ship. So, thank you.

I'm posting the link of the site i found - it makes for superb reading - hours and hours of browsing fun and excellent reference source.

I have been a memeber for years. Good place to download out of print books on India.
