I had booked on-line for TTD - Darshan of Balaji for 300INR / person.

Chennai - departure on 23/02 by personal car at 07.00 am

Visited a lot of nice temples on the way - I took the list of temples from a web site showing daily day tour from Tirupathi and visited them in the below order of sequence.

1. Pallikondeshwara swamy - Surutapalli
In this temple you can find Lord Shiva in reclining posture, which is quite rare.

2. Vedanarayan swamy temple - Nagalapuram
First temple for me to see Lord Vishnu in Fish Incarnation (first of the ten incarnations of Vishnu). He is worshipped here for having restored Vedas back to Brahma.

3. Kasi Vishweshwarar Swamy Temple - Bugga Agraharam (close to Nagari)
It is a small and beautiful temple on the banks of river Kushasthali at Bugga Agraharam village. Lord shiva and Annapoorna Devi are the main deities.
It is little bit difficult to locate, but once you reach Bugga, local people are there to help with direction.

4. Kariya Manika perumal temple (Nagari)
I think it is maintained by Tirumala devastanam, temple is very clean and beautiful. Perumal is very big and standing form. It is inside Nagari town and about 1km from NH205.

5. Kalyana Venkateshwara Swamy Temple (Puttur, Narayanavanam)
Temple is currently under renovation and hence cannot have the darshan of main deity. It is the place of marriage between Lord Venkateswara Swamy and Goddess Padmavathi.
But, temple authorities have made a makeshift arrangement with another statue of the Lord behind the temple within the same premises.

6.Venugopala Swamy Temple - (Karveti Nagar, puttur)
It is located at a distance of 13kms from (NH205)puttur junction. Temple is neat and nice again. Not a single person inside the temple, at mid afternoon 01pm when I visited.
we performed Archana at this temple, Lord Vishnu in Krishna form - with Flute is very beautiful.

7.Sri Prasanna Venkateswara Swamy - (Appalyagunta, Near to Tirupathi)
The Lord Venkateshwara swamy here looks very similar to Tirupati except for larger size. Even Padmavati Goddess statue is very much identical to Tirupati.
Do not miss visiting this temple.

Around 3.30PM we reached Thiruchanur and parked the car near the Padmavati Ammavari Temple. Skipped lunch break as I received prasad of Tamarind rice, curd rice, sweet pongal in various perumal temples and it was really filling.

Visited temples inside Tirupati

1.Padmavathi Ammavari Temple

Purchased 100 INR ticket and had Darshan in about 30minutes.
Very very peaceful and felt confident that I would be able to have Balaji Darshan the next day.
Also, received 1 laddu / ticket prasad from the temple.

2. Kalyana Venkateshwara Swamy Temple (Srinivasa Mangapuram, Tirupati)
From thiruchanur, you have come back to NH205 and drive 12kms towards the Anantapur direction. Temple is located at Srinivasa Mangapuram. Lord venkateshwara has stayed here before going to hill temple. There are many marriage seeking devotees who pray here to seek partner.

3. Sri Agastheeswara Swamy Temple (Thondavada, Near Srinivasa Mangapuram)
The temple is on the banks of swarnamukhi river near to srinivasa mangapuram. Sage Agastya was blessed here by Lord Shiva and also Lord Balaji and Goddess Padmavati visited and stayed here in this temple with Sage Agastya. In the middle of the river there is a mandap. Inside the Mandap, there is a foot step mark belived to be that of Lord Balaji. There is no water and you can walk upto that place.

4. Kapileshwara Swamy Temple (kapilatheertam, Tirupati)

There is a by-pass road from srinivasa mangapuram to Alipiri road(foot hill of Tirumala). There is Tirupati zoo on this road. Very less traffic and easy to reach Kapileshwara swamy temple which is located at the foothill of Tirumala.
It was 06pm by the time we reached the temple, evening Aarti was being performed. There is a nice Hanuman temple also near Kapilatheertam.
The waterfall inside the temple was dry. No water flowing. Lot of people at that time inside the temple. Lord Shiva in the form of Lingam is blessing here.

Night halt at Hotel Bhima Paradise - Not recommended, Bed bugs, Smelly rooms.
I stayed at downhill - Tirupati itself as it has more accommodation options.

Food is very good in the restaurant attached to the hotel and proximity to railway station/bus terminus could be plus points for this hotel.

on 24/02

Next day I started driving to tirumala Up hill driving - Started at 07.45AM and reached at 08.35AM.

Remember you have to drive compulsory 28mins up hill and 40mis downhill.
They are controlling the accidents and speeding cars nicely.
I think if you reach early, there is some fine and may not be allowed to enter...

I had booked INR300 ticket at 10AM darshan
You have to report at TB cottage 74 at 09.00am.

Keep yourself 30mins to find the place -TB cottage 74 from car parking.
So, if reporting time is 9AM, better to reach there at 08.30AM.

Huge queue line was visible and greeted us.
They allow only that particular slot group which is a good thing.
Had Darshan of Lord Venkateshwara Balaji at 11.30PM (9.00 - 11.30)
close to 2.5hrs in queue. I should say it was very fast.

For men, only dhoti or pyjama kurta is allowed in INR 300 ticket
For women, saree or sallwar with dupatta is allowed.

Take 2 copies print out of the ticket.
1 for entrance , 1 for laddu prasadam.

20mins queue for Donation is Sri vari Hundi (corpus fund of Tirumala)
10mins queue for Laddu prasadam collections.

On the return, stopped and had lunch at Hotel bhima paradise.
We took Auto rickshaw and visited 2 more famous temples inside city -

5. Govindaraja Swamy Temple
Lord Balaji in reclining posture blessing devotees.

6. Kodandarama swamy temple
Lord Rama blessing in standing posture.

It is better to take Auto as these temples are near town hall and crowded place with lot of traffic and small lanes. It is not advisable to self drive.

Started from Tirupati at 04.00PM .
Reached Tiruthani Lord Murugan temple at 6PM.- After evening 06.30PM, temple opened due evening aarti.

Reached Chennai at 09.20PM.
It was a nice trip to Tirupathi, Tirumala and temples enroute.
Remember, weekdays are the best time to visit Tirupati.

I have made a failed attempt to visit on weekend as crowds and queue of people are unbearable.
Feel free to contact for any information on the above.
PS NOTE: I HAVE EXHAUSTED 5MB QUOTA FOR IMAGE UPLOAD. SO COULD NOT UPLOAD PICTURES.

You were lucky then Pom.

Sometimes the waiting time goes up to 12-18 hours.

Twice I had been there on sat/sun. Could not bear the crowds..and you may not get any tickets...
Best is weekday ---like Monday or Tuesday .Also, avoid ekadasi day....special auspicious days...

I was there on December 2014, Went to general public line. Entered in hall #10 within 20 minutes. Then there is Outpass system. Darshan time slot printed on outpass. Go out and take free bus, which take round to city. Visit various places and come back on time slot printed on pass.

Really good arrangement.
Best Regards,

I had been to tirumala Tirupathi yesterday for having Darshan of Lord Balaji. Almost a year back in Feb, 2015, I went there. I had booked INR 300 rs ticket online for me and my parents on Thursday 03/03/2016 at 9AM reporting.

We started from Chennai the previous day(02/03/2016) evening at 4PM by car. We wanted to visit Lord Subramanya temple at Andarkuppam, very near to AH45 near ponneri since it was on the way. The temple is famous for Lord Subbramanya is praised as Adhikara (authority) and depicted like a child in the morning, as youth in midday and adult in the evening. The temple was also undergoing some renovation works. We reached the place around 05.00pm spend around 20minutes and left the place at 05.30pm.

I took the route - periyapalayam - uthukkotai - puttur - tirupathi route. The road condition is not very nice as lot of patch work has been done all the way till puttur. I think the Dec1, 2015 rains have played havoc in this region. From Puttur to Tirupathi NH is very good. We reached Tiruchanur Padmavathi temple at tirupathi around 08.15pm. Parked the car right near the temple and purchased a INR100 darshan ticket. As the temple closing time was approaching not many people were there and infact it was really very peaceful inside. Spend a lot of time inside padmavati ammavari temple until 9.00PM and also had prasad of tamarind rice. For 100INR ticket, they offer 1 laddu prasad as well. We sat inside the temple for some time meditating. I think weekdays - late evening is the best time to visit the temple as not much crowd was there.

Around 09.30PM I started from Tiruchanur and wanted to stay in hotel near Alipiri (Near foot hill of Tirumala) so that next day morning I can avoid city traffic and start up-hill driving easily. On the way, we had dinner in Hotel Vasavi - Simple vegeterian restaurant. It is very near to Sri Vaari Sannidhi and food is tasty. After having dinner we stayed in Hotel Bhanu Residency not far away from the restaurant for the night. Room charges for 3bed - a/c INR 1300, 24hr check out. The room was average and decent. No bed bugs. Recommended for budget travel.

Next day morning, we started driving at 07.30AM from the hotel bhanu to Tirumala. Reached the hill top and parked the car adjacent to bus stand at 08.15am and we had very light breakfast and coffee in India coffee house. Some changes have been made to the place from where INR300 queue starts as compared to last year. It starts near cottage 211 now. To sum it up, the winding pathway is now even longer than what I encountered last year. Dressing has to be traditional like dhoti, kurta etc. At some places INR50 ticket people are merged with INR300 queue as I saw some board. It took about 02hours and 30mins of standing in queue 08.40AM to 11.10AM. Inbetween from 10AM - 10.30AM they allow senior citizens and challenged people and hence they stop the normal queues. So, I guess in 2 hours one should be able to have Darshan if all goes well in INR300 ticket.

The sea of humanity inside Lord Balaji temple is overwhelming, never ending ocean waves of humanity. I think only way is to endure. Again we sat inside the temple for about 20mins enjoying the ever vibrant place. They served tamarind rice as prasad inside the temple. Also, you can receive 2 sweet ladduus per INR300 ticket as prasad on a counter outside the temple. It tastes ever delicious as before with ghee, cashews and raisins.

On the way back downhill, we stopped at 7th mile prassana anjaneya swami statue – Lord Hanuman standing majestically in the hill. Also, we visited Kapila theertam Lord Shiva temple in Alipiri near foot hill on the way back. We had lunch at Hotel Bhimas near Railway station. After retiring for about 1.5hours in our room, we checked out at evening 5PM and started our return journey to Chennai. We stopped at Narayanavanam near Puttur to visit Kalyana Venkateshwara Swamy Temple (Puttur, Narayanavanam). Last year the temple was undergoing renovation and hence we could not see but yesterday we had a nice darshan at the temple. It is almost a replica of Lord Balaji and Goddess Padmavathi at Tirupati. From Narayanavanam, drove straight to Chennai non stop and reached home at 10.PM.
