Hi Guys,
We are coming to visit Annavara on 26th of this month. As this is the first time we will be visiting, We arequire a few suggestions from you guys on the following:
  • How many days do you think we should spend? we have planned for two days. Would that be enough?
  • Places to visit
  • we have reserved a room for two days, can we extend the booking for one more day? if yes, please tell us the process
  • how far is the temple from station?

Thanks,
Streetcat

I think 2 days in Annavaram would be very boring. I don't think you have many places to visit in Annavaram. A day is more than enough in my opinion.

Yes, you can extend the booking.

The Annavaram station is around 3 to 4 kms from the temple.

Other places of interest: If you are looking for temples, you can look at Draksha ramam, Talupulamma thalli temple and Simhachalam temple.

But if you want to relax I would recommend the boat trip to Papi kondalu.

One day is more than enough to see Annavaram temple.

As varma suggested, you can spend rest of the time visiting the other places.

On our way to Vizag, we went in for a quick darshan. We were out in 2 hours - nothing much to see inside the temple - just security men jostling you around and priests selling divinity - disappointing !....our experience...

Thanks for the suggestions

From your replies, i believe, apart from the temple vist ( which can be completed in an half-a-day) their is not much to see.
Any suggestions?
varmaqs I heard about Papi kondalu but never done that trip.
Can it be done in a days trip from Annavaram? and also any idea about how much it would cost for a couple.

Thanks once again to all of you!!!

The boat trip starts at around 9:00 AM near Rajahmundry and ends at 5:00 in the evening. The trip fare is around RS.500 per person. Breakfast and lunch will be served. In addition you may have dancers trying to entertain you.

Plan your trip in a way that you reach Annavaram in the morning. Have your darshan done and rest of the day you can visit other temples around. Try to be in Rajahmundry for the night.

Second day morning, reach the place where the boat trips start. Its around 15kms from Rajahmundry. After you finish the boat trip you can reach Rajahmundry and then leave from there to Hyderabad by train or bus.

I heard Hotel Anand Regency has some packages for couples like you get to stay the night on the shores of Godavari. AP Tourism has their own boat trips too.

Anyway have a nice trip. Let me know if u have any questions.

Simhachalam is near Vizag. The rest can be done if you hire a car (or travel from Hyderabad in one). Annavaram temple can take a day.
