Hi all,

Mum, Dad and daughter here. We're wondering whether Hyderabad is worth a visit for a few days. We've already traveled a fair bit in India, and we're now considering itineraries for our next trip. Hyderabad might be a convenient stop for us, between night trains from Aurangabad and on to Hospet. So, has anyone been, would you recommend it etc?

All wisdom gratefully received, thanks.

Looks good for a couple of days. Golconda fort, Qutb Shahi tombs, Hussain Sagar lake, Salarjung Museum, Chowmahalla Palace, The Nizam's Museum, Charminar are a few sights that could be done in a couple of days.

Umm, not really.

You could go to the Charminar area and the museum and you could make a trip to Golconda Fort, which, after the forts of Rajasthan and elsewhere, it is a bit of a let down.

However, since you are looking for a stopover, one or two days is ok.

I definitely recommend Hyderabad for both culture and culinary experience. However, we locals have started feeling the summer a bit earlier. So unless you are oaky with hot temperature, I suggest that you postpone your trip!

Hi streetcat,

Thanks for your wisdom. We are pretty good with heat - though I must admit. I wilted in Delhi in June. Interesting that you recommend Hyderabad for culinary delights. One way or another, on all our trips to India, we've very rarely struck it lucky with food. I think maybe we need to be more adventurous in where we eat!

Thanks again,

G

Hi all, follow up question - will we be able to find budget accommodation in Hyderabad? I'm thinking in the 600-1000 rupee range for a room for the three of us. Thanks.
