APTDC Beach resort at Rushikonda. For foos, however you may have to depend on the resort food or have to travel closer to town.

Beach and close to city center like Paharganj don't go together. Area around Jagadamba junction or around the Bus Stand should get you a good choice in the low to medium range.

It gets crowded on Holidays and weekends. But otherwise not so crowded. If you want privacy walk along the beach till you get to a spot that is to your liking.

Please share your trip experience

Hi,

Hope you had a lovely vacation at Vizag.

I would be leaving on coming Saturday for Vizag. Could you please share first hand tips as a traveller?

1. Places to visit
2. Way of city transport
3. Good hotels for food
4. I have booked rishikonda APTDC for 2 days stay, let me know if there are any cheatsheets to stay happy and economic there.
5. Waether - need to carry winter wear? rain wear?

Did you visit Aaraku and the tibetibian holy places? Are they worth the visit?

Hope you get to reply before I am ready to leave for Vizag.

Thanks a million.

Vizag was wonderful.

hope u have booked in Rushikonda APTDC.

u can spend 3-4days at dis resort. its mind-blowing.
d climate is good now.
was raining in btwn for some time.

it turned very humid one day - but was ok coz we travelled in A/C Cab (indica)
Places to visit in Vizag - all can be covered in 8 hrs max.

Simhachalam was good - temple is good - but heavy rush. there are different Q - free, 20Rs, 100Rs.
Inside temple - if u pay 200Rs , u get spl darshan - which we didnt opt for.
20Rs line would have taken 2-3hrs for us. in 100Rs Q we had darshan in 45minutes.

it was very crowded.

Kailasgiri - ok place. gr8 view. but gets crowded in evening. 65Rs to-and -fro ropeway ticket .
food in Kailasgiri - pathetic, unhygienic.
its a place for love birds. u can see college couples sitting here and there. may be embarrasing if travelling with children.

Submarine museum - very good if u have kids or interested in Engineering concepts/working.

Aquarium - average. 15min is max time we can spend in there. dont pay for still camera at aquarium - not worth.

winter wear not required for adults. may be for kids if they get wet in rain or on beaches.

Vizag city transport - Indica cab and autos.

Indica cabs - from vizag city - 900-950Rs for 80km for 8Hrs.
From APTDC Rushikonda - 1200Rs non AC Indica - all sight seeing 8 hrs.
1300Rs AC Indica .

Dont forget to Visit YARADA beach. it is a private beach.
we took auto to Yarada from APTDC Rushikonda. 650Rs to and fro.
dis place is a must must visit. not much known to tourists. but the beach was ultimate with cliff also.
there is a light house at Dolphin Nose on the way to Yarada beach. it is open 3-5pm only. the view from the light house is mind blowing.

Dont miss Yarada and Light House.

Food -
at APTDC Rushikonda is - good. we had compllimentary South Indian Buffet breakfast - 7.30-10.30am - very good taste.
we had dinner once at Rushikonda APTDC - veg food for 2 ppl - 250Rs - taste was good - slow service.
didnt try non-veg food.
curd served was not that good.

Our itinerary was -
Day 1 - 7.30am - arrive at Vizag Rly station . direct auto to APTDC Rushikonda - 240Rs. Relax in resort. visit the beach. early dinner
Day 2 - early mrng sunrise (before 6am) at Rushikonda beach. rest till 2 pm. started for Yarada and Light house at 2pm.

Day 3 - check out at 10am. had breakfast. at 10.30 started for day tour . first Simhachalam. then Kailasgiri. then Aquarium. then Submarine Museum. return to Station at 5.30pm.

Kailasgiri ropeway closed 1-2pm.
Submarine museum opens at 3pm.

One bad experience - we had set deal wid Indica driver prior of 1300Rs. wen he dropped us at station in evening after day tour - he started complaining. and asking for 150Rs extra (He was saying that in day tour the passengers are supposed to pay money for food of driver extra) i dont think dis was required coz as such 1300Rs was ok for about 58km drive.

Food in Vizag - Hyderabad House is thr in city.
we had taken Andhra Chicken curry parcel from Delicacies Restuarant - it was horribly spicy. we cudnt eat even 1/4th. very very hot. we had to eat curd rice at the end.
even the Chinese chicken starter from Delicacies was spicy .

people were saying that Masala Restaurant is good.

we didnt visit Araku and Buddhist places - coz we had only 3 days and we were on a trip to relax and unwind rather than seeing many places in short time.

we didnt visit Fishing harbor coz we were tired.
we missed VUDA park also.

u wil like Rushikonda APTDC if u like walking along the beach and if u like lying on the sand for hours.

we spent hours listening to the sound of the sea.

all rooms have good view. u can see sunrise from ur bed. but sun rises b4 6pm. so we missed it on first day.
take ample extra set of clothes. rooms very clean. no mosquiotes/bed bugs. well maintained campus.
Hope it was helpful.
Do let me know how was ur trip.

APTDC hotel near Appu Ghar is ok ok. it is on other side of the beach road (not on sea side). hotel not as good as Rushikonda one.
beach is walkable. but not so good beach. crowded beach. all college students and locals hang around thr.

only positive point is - near to Vizag city.

nothing as compared to Rushikonda APTDC.

Shared autos avlb from just outside the Rushikonda APTDC resort to Vizag city centre. excellent frequency.
thr is a RTC bus stop 100metre from resort on Beach road.
bus number 900 goes til Vizag Rly station. every 30-40minutes.

thr is a Private College near the resort. so lot of students use the shared autos and RTC buses.

we didnt try all this. so no personal experience.

No sea view from rooms on ground floor.

not sure about first floors also.

Thanks from bottom of my heart

couldnt have expected anything more

thanks a million for taking some time to share your experince.
You have covered eveything that i woulod need for my trip - accomodation, travel, food, places to visit, absolutely everything. Wish I could meet you and thank in person.

I will be going to vizag the whole of next week instead of just 3 days - it just seems too tempting to come back in 3 days

i have booked rushikonda for 3 days and appu ghar APTDC for 2 days. I am happy i booked at both and so wont feel like stuch at one place.

You hit the nail that you went looking for relaxation than running places - that's exactly my motto too. Your itenary too helps a lot.

Thanks a million trillion zillion
