Hi,

I'm planning for a trip to Gandikota from Bangalore. Need the help with the following:

1. Best way to reach Gandikota using Public transport
2. I have gandikota gorge, Belum caves, Fort in mind to visit. Is there anything else not to be missed? (This would be a weekend trip)
3. Best place to stay?
4. Do we need a private car to take us around these places?
5. Best time to visit?

Belum Caves is around 30 kms from Tadipatri and Gandikota is around 80 kms from Tadipatri. You can take a bus from Bangalore to Tadipatri. Stay in Tadipatri.

Thanks for the reply.

I read few blogs where people mentioned they stayed in APSRTC resort. Is that a good option?

And how about cabs for roaming around and other places to visit?

Haritha (APTDC properties) should be a good option.

I think there should be buses from Tadipatri to both the places. However not sure of the frequency. Autos and cabs will be available.

There are direct trains from Chennai to Tadipatri. Any reason to start the trip from Bangalore.

I think the places that you mentioned will consume your entire day if traveling by public transport.

You could consider visiting Aluru Kona, however not sure whether water would be there in the falls.

On the way back to Bangalore maybe you could consider Lepakshi.

@mohan, I did the gandikota trip from bangalore in july. you can stay at the haritha but you'll need to book online in advance. lodges are available in jammalamadugu. the bus from jammalmadugu to tadipatri goes via belum. it takes almost 6 hours from bangalore to jammalmadugu. overnight pushback buses are available. it takes 5 hours to tadipatri via ananthapur.

details: Gandikota ; Tadipatri

you can also do a day trip to lepakshi from bangalore

details: Lepakshi

@kapilankar That is awesome.

So getting down at jammalamadugu and staying at haritha would be the best option right?

And do we get any cabs to take us around? Or should we book them in advance?

Was these places crowded when you went?

None of the places were crowded. Crowds only flock to Belum caves on weekends. I used the local buses, so no idea about cabs. Rickshaws should be available. Jammalmadugu to Tadipatri has frequent bus connections.
