I am Arjun. My one and only hobby is traveling. My last long tour was at Bangkok Pattaya (My Honeymoon trip).I started writing this trip report just before our journey to Andaman..

Prologue (Sunday 29th December'2013):

It was a Wednesday evening of the February month .. I was waiting for a tea break. As usual everybody was looking at monitor with lots of tension in face.As yesterday was a very critical delivery for our project . I went to Swarup da's (My manager) desk and asked "Ki korcho ? Chap holo naki kichu ? "(What are you doing ? Is there any problem ?) .Swarup replied .. Hey I am going to Andaman ,looking for tickets .I was surprised and obvious three question asked within fraction of seconds . When ,How with Whom ? His answers made me more schocked. The plan is for 25th December'2013 (Approx 10 months ago !! ) .And this is beacuse Jet Airways and Air india is offering huge discounts in Air fare.

I was very excited hearing his plan and started searching Indiamike for details. But very few thread was there to satisfy my query. I called my wife whether she can mange the leaves for 5-6 days after 10 months without thinking how can she confirm about that . But she knows me and told she will ask her colleauges. On that day my parents finally declared that their only son is "Mad".Next day I rushed to office and opened MakeMyTrip website and only 4 tickets were available with that price (Rs 3377 /=) in AirIndia and we were 4 too !! .Crossing my fingur I just booked them all.

I planned for 7 days and started contacting for Govt resorts. After lots of phone calls for 2 months I finally reached that person who himself books the resort. His name is Rustam Ali . He confirmed my mail in the month of June and asked me to call in November for a reminder. In August I contacted to one of the famous tarvel agency of Kolkata and they confirmed to take care of Ferry booking ,Hotel, food ,transfer everything. They told it is very tough to get govt resort booking .I was not much happy as I want to explore this island with my own way. But thinking of my parents and I was no where to arrange all these bookings(boat, transfer car ) ,I thought to go with travel agent. But the tarvel agent gave a qoute of 13000 per head at end of October which I completely denied and decided to go on by ourselves. I immediately called Rustam and told my name. He checked the system and confirmed "yes" you will get those govt resort .After 5 days on 1st week of November he sent a confirmation mail of booking Govt resort and asked me to deposit Rs 3000 (which is 25 % of total amount). Dear Indiamikers please contact me for Rustam's contact number (by only message).

After long waiting and with the help of Indiamikers friends (Appu,Params, meandtravels, sshi v,Sovon ) I am now ready to board the flight. My flight is at 5.50 am tomorrow. But I am starting my journey today at 11 pm as from my home, Airport distance is approx 3 hour drive and driver will not be available at midnight. See you friends .. and be ready for my pics ..

30th December'13Port Blair,Chidia Tapu)

We have reached Kolkata airport at 12.05 am and our flight is at 5.50 am .After a long wait finally we board and woke up only after hearing captain's voice "Within 15 minutes we will land on Veer Savarkar Airport ,passengers are requested to tight their Seat belt " when we look outside it is awesome. My father's office collegue Uttam uncle called us and informed driver is waiting for us .We reached tourism office and collected the recipts of my advanced payment for govt resort booking. Our portblair resort is "Hornbill nest" which is near to Corbyn's Cove beach. After lunch and rest at 3.30 pm we started for ChidiaTapu,Mundapahar Beach. It was a very good sunset point.
The scenic beauty was very good.It takes about 45 minutes to reach that spot.Road has some small turns .After that we returned to our resort.

Great beginning. I have one request though. Please add a caption for each photograph so that we know the place, the special feature in the photo (eg, the name of a temple). That would be very helpful and informative.

Cheers

Smile Review of Hornbill Nest,Port Blair:

The resort is positioned in a perfect location . We reached there at 9.00 am sharp. But the room was not ready so we waited at reception and I started my photography .It was a really beautiful location . After 40 minuted they asked one room(Room number 105) has been ready we can shift our luggage their ,by the time they are preparing other one(Room 104).We agreed .After two hours(at 11.00 am) when we returned they told sorry sir we cant give you room 104 as the AC is not working .We are giving you Room 103 but you have to wait as the room is not clean and guest just left.A fter 15 min we are given room .But to my surprise the room has no door lock ,no water , It was irritating and I reported the manager immediately and he said "Sir we have told multiple time tourism daprtment not to book this resort beacuse it needs maintanance " It was a hot argument strated immediately and finally we are given two rooms which were ok.We stayed there for 4 nights .Food was good and hygenic and service was ok type.

Pros : Hygenic food, neat and clean room.
Cons: Loaction is actually outside the town .So communication is a problem there But the location is just beside Corbyn's Cove beach and after 6 pm there you can only hear the sound of sea.Service is not up to the mark.

Why Hornbill not Teal house ?

I thought to stay beside the Corbynís cove beach and thought it will be a good place than Teal. But now I will suggest if you want save some bucks it is better to stay in Teal House. But I have no idea about service of Teal house.

Smile 31st December '13:(PB to Havelock -Dolphin resort)

We were very excited for our Havelock journey. Our driver came at 5.15 am.After havinh breakfast we started at 5.30 am and met with Uttam uncle and made a advance payement of Rs 7000/= for Havelock ticket,Ross,North Bay and Jolly buoy.He handed over our ticket for Havelock. We reached jetty to catch 6.15 am govt boat for Havelock. As per suggestion by indiamiker we all gathered in deck and enjoyed our journey very much. The boat reached havelock at 8.40 am and our driver took us to Dolphin resort(which is just a 20 minute distance from Jetty).I paid Rs 1300 for next day Neil boat ticket (which was at 3.30 pm ) . It was the most beautiful resort in our whole journey and the private beach was just awesome. The blue color and scenic beauty had made us speechless.I was clicking pictures like mad as I have come to different planet. In afternoon we walked through this beach approx 4 hour . .Then we thought to visit the market of Havelock. It was a very small market .I bought snorkelling gear (Price 680/=)from one shop .Food at dolphin was not that good. After returning hotel I saw the driver was waiting for us to discuss our next day trip and handed over our boat ticket for Havelock-Neil. After they are gone I was just checking our Boat timing was 2.00 pm !!! I doubt and did a double check with dolphin Resort reception .That guy was really helpful he said from 1st January there will be a extra boat for Neil which starts at 2.00 pm .This ticket is for that boat.I was happy ,very happy as we will get more time in Neil as we have a sunset pointview on next day at neil .Immediately informed our driver about this .Oh we skipped Kalapathhar beach as we like to stay at this beach.

Smile 1st January 2014:(Radhangar Beach, Havelock to Neil,Laxmanpur beach)

It was our last day at Havelock ,after waking up early I and my wife ran for the beach but due to Amabosya the current in water was heavy. After breakfast at 8.15 am we started for famous Radhanagar beach and reached there by 30 minutes. We did breakfast from a that place and ordered lunch .The beach was very clean and weather was really hot..When we reached there very few people was there and we took that opportunity We started bathing and after that My wife and I did some practice of Snorkeling there. We had plenty of time in hand so go for a Elephant ride(Rs 20 per person) for 10 minutes (which they claim it is arranged by Govt.So it costs less). After that we did lunch .The time was then 1.30 pm.We saw some beach side arrangement i.e swiss Dome .After saying good bye to Radhanagar we started for havelock jetty .Our Boat MV KANCHAL was waiting for us and boarded .Our boat reached Neil about 4.00 pm. We could not find our driver there as his phone was switched off !! I did not mind much and just murmuring indiamiker's info "It should not be more than 5 minutes distance" And yes it was just a 5 min walk and we reached Hawabill nest. When we just entered our room our driver came .Without any delay we started for Laxmanpur beach for sunset which was 2 km from our resort. That day was cloudy ,so we were not able to sunset. But beauty of this beach is mind blowing... In wish if I could stay there more .. it was 5.30 pm and getting dark.so started for resort.

Driver charge : 700/=(pickup +drop+ Radhanagar) and Ticket charge 300/= per person(Havelock-Neil) + Rs 25/= per person who bought this ticket behalf of us.

Smile Review of Dolphin Resort ,Havelock:

The location ,location and location. This is the highlight for this resort. It has a private beach and that is superb. We have chosen the Semi deluxe room. Room was neat and clean.Actually most of the time I think every body is sitting just beside the beach.Food was not up to the mark. And please never try non-veg item there.Everything here is a Buffet whether it is breakfast, lunch or dinner. From Havelock Jetty it is just 10-15 minute distance by car and from Radhanagar beach it is 25 minutes distance by car.Service is fine. One thing I want to mention the menu chart of all the govt resorts are same.

Pros: Location and neat and clean room.Service.
Cons: Food is not that good.

2nd January'2014:(Sitapur,Bharatpu r and Laxmanpur beach II and Back to Port Blair)

We started about 8.30 am for Sitapur beach. It is not much famous. Actually there is no such beach but the natural beauty was good.We clicked some pictures and started for our next destination Bharatpur beach which is just in front of our guest house. As it was decided earlier I was ready with snorkeling items as I had to do it here.Normal rate for Snorkeling here 350 /= and for glass bottom 300 /= per person. We did a lot bargain there and finally it came to Snorkeling +glass bottom 360/= per person. We immediately board the boat ,It has taken us for 10 minutes ride and in a place they have taken for Snorkeling. It.It was good ,very good. And during return they have taken to a place for the fish .We enjoyed a lot there. After some bathing in fresh water (From beach it is just 5 minute distance ,A person takes 10/= Rs for change and bath) later we went for lunch. We told our driver to arrange some lunch in nearby hotel. And this hotel was known to me .It is the AND resort. we were very hungry. The food was ok type there .Then we went for Laxmanpur beach II .Thre was a natural bridge ,called Howrah bridge. After some photography nothing much to see there. After that we returned to our resort and took rest there for 1 hour. Then at 4 pm we reached Jetty and boarded our boat for Port blair. We reached Port blair around 6.15 pm .We thought to visit Sagarika for some time. We reached there and spent some time there. Then at 7.00 pm we hired a taxi and reached Hornbill nest and shifted in the same room rooms.

Review of Hawabill Nest,Neil

Hawabill Nest is the best resort in Neil. The rooms are very big , neat and clean. It is very near to Neil jetty(only 5 min walk able distance) It is just 15 min walk able distance from Bharatpur beach.Food quality here is hygienic and good (though we did not like the sea fish preparation much ).The person in charge is a very helpful person.

Pros : Good location, food ,neat and clean room.
Cons : Nothing.
