Go through http://www.indiamike.com/india/andam...guide-t261581/ and short list places that you would like to see in the 4 days.

We spent 2 nights in Port Blair only for transit and spent 3 nights in Havelock and 2 nights in Neil. You need to reach Port Blair early for moving to Havelock the same day- the last ferry leaves by 1400 or so and you need to reach the jetty an hour in advance for baggage xray, security check, baggage handover, check-in etc. Suggest that you visit Samudrika museum on the first day to get an overview of Andamans. This helps in appreciating the islands better.

Best thing about Dolphin resort is its location on Vijayanagar beach. Rooms are large with LED TV, AC & water heater. Cleanliness is average. No fancy restaurant! Basic veg menu for buffet (free) breakfast, lunch & dinner. Nonveg items made to order - order a couple of hours in advance! Super deluxe cottages have nice beach view from the cottage balcony. You can watch sunrise from the resort itself. Can walk towards Govindnagar beach / Kala pathar beach along the shore. Economical resort and value for money.

Barefoot is more upscale and is located near Radhanagar beach. Supposed to be better in all respects. Cost about 10.5 to 15k per night (check if they will allow kids free as they are below 12). Some review said there is no TV in this resort. Not sure if they have sea view cottages.

Dolphin is on Vijaynagar beach - opposite side of the island. Govt run so you will see inefficiencies but not intolerable. While the structures are built with some good fittings etc, the maintenance is not up to the mark. The super deluxe cottages are about 4.7k and have nice see view right from the cottage balcony. Booking is a pain though if you try to get it done online.

Not sure about food options near Barefoot but if you walk out of Dolphin other restaurants are available in about a km radius.

The decision depends on your budget. Barefoot is listed #1 and Dolphin #2 in Havelock hotels.

You can consider Megapode in Port Blair. A friend said it is ok. Otherwise no direct references for PB. Did you try J hotel in Aberdeen bazaar? Looked good from outside.

See this link for online booking of Dolphin resort -
