Hi everyone I'm new to Indiamike and to travelling in Asia. I'm in India for 2 weeks in Jan. I hoped to stay in Shanti Lodge in Agra, which got good reviews in Rough Guide and on the web, for 2 nights from Jan 19th. Probelm is the phone no. in Rough Guide - 0562 233 1973 - always says "The other person hung up"?. Should I keep trying? Does anyone know if this is the correct phone number or an email address I can use to book?
Any help gratefully received

I stayed at the Shanti last year,

in May, my third stay at the Shanti . . . latest info I have (same phone# that you have) but have this cell# - 9837221679. e-mail shantilodge2000@yahoo.co.in
Hope one of those numbers works.

Great view to the Taj from the Shanti. They built a fourth floor since I was there last. Great veg burgers too.

edwardseco . . .

since my first trip to India in '82 I've collected and saved almost all of my train tickets, monument entry slips, hotel/restaurant cards, etc (it's not a packrat-thing, it's a writer-thing) . . . my plan one day is to collage them all together in the shape of India . . . in the meantime, I can still access their information . . . one of my favorite's is from China where I backpacked for four months in 1985 . . . I was issued some thing called an "Alien Registartion Card." Not a tourist, but an alien . . . I've always suspected . . .
