Hi

This is my plan, please let me know if this is OK. I am travelling with my wife and two kids 9 and 12.

Day1: Arrive at the aiport 6pm, take a prepaid taxi to NDLS station, take Bhopal Express at 9pm to Agra, arrive at Agra at 11.35pm, take a prepaid cab from station to hotel and check in.

Day2: Taj early in the morning, breakfast, Agra fort, lunch, other local tourist places including Sikandra

Day3: Visit Fatehpur Sikri in the morning, check out at the hotel at noon, take Shatbdhi Exp to Jaipur at 4.20pm.

Question 1: Travel to Agra from airport by car or take train as I have mentioned above. I am planning to travel in 2AC.

Question 2: Is ther any chance of including Mathura in the above plan?

Question 3: I am looking at Taj Gateway hotel, Radison Blue or Howard Plaza. Have any suggestions for similar hotels?

Question 4: I am planning to hire a local taxi for a day trip on day 2 and half day trip to Fatehpur Sikri on day3. Is that OK? What is the approx cab charges now?

Question 5: Any good place for dinner with Taj view for day 2?

Question 6: Anything else to do in Agra? or Anything else that I need to know?

Thanks for your help in advance

When are you planning to do this?

I would suggest to take a cab from Delhi airport to Agra.

On day 3 instead of back tracking to Agra, you can catch the same train to Jaipur from Bharatpur.

Why this massive hurry to get to Agra, that too so late in the night? Spend the night in Delhi and take the early morning Shatabdi to Agra the next morning. Aarosh's suggestion of taking the Shatabdi from Bharatpur to Jaipur is a good one and will save you some unnecessary travel.

Thanks Aarosh,

We are planning this in June 2014. Do you think I can save some time by cabbing to Agra from Delhi airport? Also Do you think I will have some to visit Mathura on Day3?

Thanks.

Thanks Aloke_m,

I thought if I get to Agra on Day1 night, firstly we can have some good night sleep. Secondly, we can start the day nice and early at 5:30am with sunrise at Taj.

Thanks.

I think you could save some if not much time by taking a cab. I do not think you would have time to visit Mathura on Day 3.

Not really, considering you'll reach Agra earliest by around 11 pm and you plan to get up at 5:30 am. If you stay in Delhi you can get to sleep much earlier (though you will still have to get up early).

Taj at sunrise, you could always do that on the morning of your third day, and then head to Fatehpur Sikri at around 7-7.30 am. You also have the chance of seeing the Taj at sunset on your second day.

I do not recommend adding Mathura to your itinerary which is fairly hectic as it is. Keep in mind June is an extremely hot month that part of the country and you might regret trying to do too many things in a short span of time.

If you are arriving at 6 PM , assuming you get out of the airport by 645 and have a cab waiting for you , i think you can save about 1 hour atleast getting to Agra , even more depending on traffic conditions etc.

The can however will be more expensive than possibly the train.

Thanks, Puchoo.

If car can save some time than travelling by train, I would like to take the car for sure. What about Saturday evening traffic to Agra?

Thanks.

Its a saturday evening so there will definitely be traffic for sure but not along the lines of a grid lock or anything. The one thing which can make traffic standstill is if it rains but wont know that till Saturday.

Where are you arriving in Delhi from?

I am fairly confident of this saving time nevertheless and if in your shoes i would have drive / taken a cab.

As mentioned if you are out by 645 , i expect one can hit the Yamuna expressway by 745-8. Once on the expressway It should take about 2 hours which means we are looking at about 10.

So you save about an hour , the question is really if that saving of one hour warrants the additional expenditure on a taxi and realistically 1 hour can disappear reasonably fast if you do end up getting stuck by some chance.

Thanks,
I will be arriving from Sydney. If I take direct flight, we will arrive at 6:10pm (over 12 hrs of flying) and if we decide to other flights it will be like 16hrs of flying and will arrive around 11pm.
Have not booked the tickets yet; So not sure about exact arrival time at this stage.
