I think fireworks for a brewery on a peaceful and beautiful island full of temples and spiritual vibes is a bad idea.
I mean the noise and pollution.
All the islanders seemed very happy with the idea. Couldn't go into a shop without being told of it; and in places where we are regulars, like our hotel and various restaurants, they enthusiastically besieged us with information.
As to Miyajima being a peaceful island, I'd agree from 6:00 PM to 7:00 AM. But from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM it is aroar with daytrippers, none of whom seems capable of using an indoor voice, probably to be heard over the caterwauling of group guides hollering through amplified loudspeakers.
As to temples and spiritual vibes, you apparently have never been to the firewalking ceremony in Daishoin, with a holy din of bellowing conch shells, thundering drums, and rattly sistrums. Spiritual vibes galore, sufficient to induce the faithful to walk barefoot over ashes and embers after half an hour's mind-altering noise.
Mind you, this fireworks display lasted all of ten minutes. I seriously doubt that it would register as an uptick on a ppm monitor, though it admittedly must have created some pollution. As everyone seemed very happy with the undertaking and no one complained, I'd say the benefits outweighed the costs.
I agree that Miyajima is a beautiful island.
