River Dawki

Dawki is a beautiful place situated in the borders of Bangladesh and Meghalaya. The journey to Dawki from Shillong includes a dramatic 10 km section along the lip of the vast green Pamshuti Canyon. It then descends through mildly picturesque Khasi villages like Pontung and Mawsun amid waving betel – nut palms, finally crossing a suspension bridge over the surreally blue – green Umngot Creek where waters are dotted with flimsy local fishing Boats. A colorful boat race is held here every year in the month of February on the Umgot River.

Wanted to rate the photograph with more than 10. The photo gives the effect of flying boats! The colour of the water is so serene.
