Apparently an erstwhile hunting lodge of the Maharaja of Travancore, this 6-room hotel is situated on a peninsula within the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. So we have a forest, and a lake in the middle of it and a hotel in the middle of the lake - this gives the hotel the best location in Thekkady. With just 6 rooms, you are assured of a quiet, peaceful holiday in the lap of nature. You can view assorted animals from your rooms, as they come up to the lake for a drink. Bird life is also exciting and again, you don't need to leave your verandah to watch them!!! At night, with no artficial lights around for miles, you can see more stars in one night than you may have in your entire life. Rooms are reaaly nice and service is warm and friendly. It may be a little on the expensive side - that is you may get better rooms and amenities, a bigger spread in meals etc. elsewhere for the same money. But what you get here is a splendid location. Ideal for couples, honeymooners, people interested in wildlife and everyone looking for a peaceful holiday.
