EDIT: OK peeps can't help myself here, this photo thing is fun to do. So -- here's a pictorial overview of my first journey to India in the winter of '93/'94, mid-Oct. to early Feb. The quality is probably none too great, what with converting slides to photographs to compressed computer images, but oh well. Itinerary was roughly: Delhi - Jaipur -Ajmer -Pushkar - Jodhpur - Jaisalmer - Bombay - Bijapur - Hospet - Hampi - Mysore - Bylakuppe - Thalasseri - Cochin - Kottayam- Alleppey - Kollam - Varkala - Madurai - Kodaikanal - Tiruchirappalli - Chidambaram (give or take a town, I sort of lost track in Tamil Nadu, what with many temple-filled places with somewhat similar-sounding names, sorry ) - Madras - Mahabalipuram - Varanasi - Calcutta - Kenduli - Siliguri - Madarihat (Jaldapara) - Darjeeling - Varanasi - Delhi (oofff...). Note that I stubbornly didn't take a camera as I didn't want to view the world through a lens all the time, so all these pictures are taken by my good friends Daniel and Susanne from Germany unless otherwise noted, hope they don't mind.
