Out of the 50 on display, I've only read eight! Great display.

Untouchable by Anand
Short History of Nearly Everything by Bryson
Holy Cow by MacDonald (but gave up after 4 chapters – didn’t like it)
Shantaram by Roberts
Million Mutinies by Naipal
Are You Experienced by Sutcliffe
The Alchemist by Coelho
Age of Kali by Dalrymple

You should go back a revisit Holy Cow. She turns out in the end to profoundly love India and this book explains practices beliefs etc. in India that no other could.

After reading the first few chapters, I moved ahead and read the one on Israelis in India, which was insightful. I may revisit it one day and read it all.

Kim, City of Joy, Age of Kali and own copy of Tibetan Book of the Dead - which is not too readable IMO but nevertheless an excellent source of reference for understanding Himalayan art.

Have read Holy Cow, India..., The Age of Kali, City of Djinns, The Argumentative Indian(not all), Midnight's Children(most of), Karma Cola, Kim and Catch 22. I suspect that the stall had sold out of Mark Tully and Vikram Seth. One of India's many pleasures is a good read obtainable almost anywhere.

Of the more lighthearted books, I've most enjoyed Holy Cow and Karma Cola
