These tall, slender trees produce the betelnut ( or arecanut ). Betelnuts are a key ingredient for Paans.
These palms are usually planted close together, and picking of betelnuts involves the worker moviing from tree to tree without getting down - He simply sways the tree he is in, and grabs the next tree when he gets near it & then does a quick switch. Quite something to watch.
