This bridge on the NH17 at Kuttipuram spans the Bharata Puzha river. Bharata Puzha is the longest river in Kerala, and ever since major dams were constructed upstream ( Malampuzha etc) decades ago, the river has become a pale shadow of its former self. The water flow in summer is barely a trickle.
Oh, and indiscriminate sand mining doesnt help either.
Bharata Puzha is a very important river and has influenced a number of authors and poets who have lived along the banks. This river features in many movies, and there are some important temples on the banks as well.
