zen buddhism, aikido and yoga

Hello there,

I am travelling from Nepal to India in a few days, and again, I need some advise! In Japan I got very interested in Zen Buddhism and the practice of Aikido and yoga. Too late off course, so I wonder if there's a good place to learn all this in India (not in Delhi please!). There're so many ashrams, dojo's and retreats, that I don't know where to start! Also, I heard it's possible to get a teacher's degree in yoga. Any good places? I'll be travelling from Ladakh to Goa and Kerala in three months, and my itinarary is very flexible (monsoontime, so ideal to practise!)

Hope to get some good info, thanks,
Ananda

Yoga

Hi Ananda
If remeber correctly Sri Ved Niketan Ashraram Rishkesh offer teacher training course Tel. +91 135 433537/430279
A few years ago for month long course was 4000 Rps is also possible to stay there,(have done some yoga classes there).
David

From internet info:
Sri Ved Niketan Ashram: Across the river on the Eastern side of the Ganges, turn right after the footbridge and it's a five minute walk. The classes offer gentle yoga style similar to the Bihar School of Yoga and classes cover gentle warm ups for the joints, a few asanas and some pranayama. Meditation classes are offered too. Classes are held morning and evening in the big central hall. One month courses held seven times a year, and cover asana, pranayama and yoga and Hindu philosophy. It is not obligatory to participate in the classes, bhajans or satsangs in order to stay on the grounds.Tel. +91 135 433537/430279.

Doesn't currently open with me. That's just Aikido I take it? Do you know of any general Budo organizations there?

You may wonder by now why my asking on these threads; it's just a common if underhighlighted subject of interest with some visitors, and I have some past interest in it myself.

Hello Machadinha, I apologize, but after rereading this thread I realized that I never responded to your question. I'm hoping it may have been answered already from my other thread found at:

Bati! (How does one appropriately abbreviate that username?) Thanks!

Bookmarked, of course. Do you know of any Indian national organizations? There must be one, you'd think.

I'm looking into Jodo now, fairly off-beat I gather but it would be practically very feasible to me. There's been at least one member here who wrote about it (looking for an Indian school which s/he couldn't find I believe), I think that was about the (apparently) related art of Iaido.

Yet to come across a Indian school, Mach. I will make a post about it if I do come across one.

Initially, I got confused between Jodo and Judo. After going through the web, I am quite sure that I will never come across this in India. It is that off-beat.
