hello
im also going to the course that starts in november
but im really worried because some people have talk to me in a very bad way
they had been there last year doing the yoga tecaher training course and they told me that teh course is too basic, only basic asanas and teory
and that they have 2 young ladies (20 years old), given teh asana calsses
they were ladis taht had just finish the course in the ashram and start to work with them
and now im very worried about that!!!!
i realli don want to lose my money and my time

so
for how long have you been practice yoga before take this course?
what do you tho\ink is basisc or no?
they tecah you also a lot of teory?
they tech you how to do a posture(asana) and how to release it, the benefits of each asana, the variations of them,

plese tell me all teh details taht you can give me

I did the yoga teacher training course at yoga vidya in 07.
I enjoyed the course, eventhough it wasn't perfect, but what is?
for anyone wanting to be a yoga teacher, this course will really give you a good undrstanding and the skills you need to start on the path... it's all a journey, and no matter what course someone decides to do, everything will be a good experience if we're open. I think just surrender once you've made a choice and see where the path takes you.

Hi Snowfie, i'm planning to sign up for the Feb2010 course. I'm still on the research mode on this school, traveling and as well as other schools if there is any better ones ard. (esp after reading thru previous threads abt having young ladies giving the classes, it's rather scary.)
May i ask you to share with me any info or updates that you have with regards to the YTTC in Yoga Vidya Dham?
thank you

Booked my space for the Oct/Nov 09 course.

I prefer to stick to believing the good things I've heard about this course, which have been many.

If you go to YouTube and search user yogapoint108, I have found a little library of videos of student feedback from this specific course, and it's kinda nice to see the location in the background, knowing that I'll be walking there in a few months' time.

I did that course about 3 years ago so it may have changed. I had really mixed feelings about. After doing it I came to the conclusion that its pretty silly to try and become a yoga teacher in one month anyway whereever you do the course. This is a process that takes a long time to develop - it's not just about getting flexible but much more to be a good teacher -but also about developing at least some level of inner calm and control over your own body and mind to be able to guide others and know what they need...this you can't get in a month...but it may help you start on that path ....some Indians I have met who practice yoga have conveyed to me a mixture of amusement and concern about this type of course...even a doctor giving a lecture on the course asked me how foreigners think they can come for such a short time and learn these things...

anyway that's just my opinion but about that ashram...the food is great, there's a good atmosphere among the students which I enjoyed, they teach you about the other sides of yoga -not just asana, and the place is beautiful....some of the teachers I really liked and the language problem wasn't a big deal. You get to practice cleansing techniques which are really good to learn.

Things not so good for me...they are advertising the course suitable for beginners. But by the end they are teaching you to put your leg behind your head....they cram so many asanas into a short time which require a lot of flexibility and it's hard to get that in a month. They teach you advanced pranayama really fast and without clear guidelines how to keep practicing it when youre not there which could be dangerous.... the program is really intense and some people got fully stressed out which seems wierd for a yoga training...the coordinater told us that he used to be an angry person but now people could call him a fool and he wouldnt react - but I saw him get fully angry with people in a way that didnt seem very yogic...

also they have a system of counting your way into each asana which you have to learn to do the teaching. Some people like it and others don't ...

if you go there you are sure to have a good time and learn a lot but I wouldn't recommend going there and thinking after you can just become a yoga teacher unless you're already very experienced.

Best wishes to all
