Yoga in the Olympics
Yoga's Next Twist
"Yoga's Next Twist Turning a Mystic Discipline Into an Olympic Competition By JOHN KRICH May 2, 2008 New Delhi Bidding to host the 2020 Summer Olympics hasn't yet begun, but the Indian Olympic Association has proclaimed it plans a pitch for New Delhi. That's encouraging news for a small movement in India that's looking to raise the country's greatest contribution to the world of fitness to a higher podium: They want yoga in the Olympics. Competitive yoga? It isn't as great a stretch as it seems...." you knew this was coming, didn't you? ![]() |

Will it be an "exhibition game", like some of the less sporty Olympic sports are? Oddly enough, not everything in the Olympics is actually competitive...
Though I'll admit that the sportscaster narration from gymnastics and figure skating sometimes pops into my head when I'm trying to hold my balance in an asana. "...and she's done it! she's finally stuck that natrajasana! that's a 9.8 from the slovenian judge! 9.8 from uzbekistan..." |

Yoga as a sport sounds like a terrible convolution.
I mean... They're going to compete? |
