Hello everybody,
I heard about this festival and I was told it will be next november (the 8th?, does anybody know if it will be celebrated in South India and in which town? For that date I will be near Tiruvannamalai, do you think something is going on? If yes, will there be any celebrations worth of a schedule changing? And most of all, is it correlated with deepvali festival? Sorry for all those questions that could be stuopid, but I am fold of festivals and trying to understand meanings is often an hard work for me thank in advance max |

However Maha Shivratri (Great Shivratri) is one that is more widespread and celebrated.. |

Shivarathri dates
HI!
Maha Shivarathri is celebrated on the new moon in February, sometimes beginning March! What a great idea to be in Tiravanamalai. I thought it was Divali that is in October/November???? Have a lovely time chanting Om namah Shivaya!! |

Just gone, October 12th to 20th, was Navaratri. We did some threads about about it.
The more devout celebrants of MahaSivaRatri will spend all night in the temple. One such night I was playing music with friends in a London temple at 4.00am, partly wishing everyine would go home so I could, and mostly wishing they wouldn't ![]()
