Id also like to comment on the Gayatri Mantra which i learnt from Shantimayi and personally recorded in 1994 up to 2001, along with many bajans, i luv the way i learnt to sing the Gayatri Mantra, i learn't to open my heart from singing the Mantra's and bajans I learnt from Shantimayi & her followers. I think to this day i am the only 1 who has all the original chants from her visits to Western Australia as i recorded all of them as we sang them, & to this day i still have them and play them to people on the internet, im so lucky to have had that experience and kept the recordings. how can u sing or chant a mantra or prayer wrong? the energy is in the words not the way its done. im not a following disciple of hers, but i was. 1 reason i left her, was she taught me so well i learnt to travel without my focus on just 1 guru. I now am a tibetan buddhist practioner because my precious Dalai Lama called me back to him. I am still open to all paths,I was taught by shantimayi never to forget my teachers, & I haven't, its all about practicing and absorbing them, it has been sad for me to see some friends follow her and others around the globe and watch them not learn to absorb the teachings in their own heart, they wanted to get the bliss from guru's alone, but its in our heart, its always there when we feel luv, when we r in sadness or hate we wil not find samadhi.I havent travelled to India, becoz India came to me, thanku Shantimayi I have kept all my precious note books of your teachings u all saw me writing lol. maybe i can write a book on them one day.

lol im still here i forgot to leave another purple elephant for Nick-H also after reading from some of u, that shantimayi's free teachings have been removed from her site, well i went straigh to her site and she had links opening up in YouTube for teachings and the Gayatri Mantra and Medicine Buddha mantra. some people need to go look b4 they judge.

I'm always happy to see an elephant, purple or otherwise .

I guess I was probably talking about someone posting in purple type, and I may even have been a moderator at the time.

There were also running jokes with one member about posting in purple, and with another about the ancient and esoteric craft of macrame. Easily misunderstood.

Wait...

Did I just use the words macrame and joke in the same sentence?

I actually looked at her site. She sings and bangs her way through the Gayatri Mantra with the subtlety and grace of Atilla the Hun.
I watched several of her videos on You Tube. The woman comes across as an idiot, who knows very little about the rhythms and appropriateness of Mantras. She got the words, and just sang 'em at the wrong speed, with the wrong inflections. It's a bit like Gayatri goes Disco!!
And if her videos are what we are to go by for insight, then I'm afraid i think she is talking Gibberish. I can see she is trying to cloak her ignorance in metaphor, and "circle speak", but I've been through this with other gurus, and can now see it for what it is. all these vagaries like "a good friend of mine knows", and " It is said", and "ancient scholars tell us", etc. Invoking the knowledge of Central Desert Aboriginals in Australia is just rude. And saying that her friend was given a "message" by 'Them", that she, Shanti Mayi had to pass on is just ludicrous. Thank heavens she's not self centred.
The points I took from her public talks were what everyone says about the human condition, namely, believe in yourself, be kind to others, be tolerant etc. Same old same old.
As far as I can tell, she is Platitude Guru number 2750.
Nothing that hasn't been said or done by thousands of other media seeking, self-absorbed, middle aged, bored fake gurus.
If that's the info people are seeking, may I suggest the Bible, the Quoran or the Bhagavad Gita. A bit less condensed, but a lot more interesting.
And remember what SM says about healing the world. Live in Your Heart. And allow the Starlight to rearrange your DNA. It's the only way to Self. Sheesh.
Thank God I'm not Bitter.

I don't know what it is with me and these bubbleheads. I used to be so tolerant blah blah.
When I first came to India, I was a total airhead, wandering around AMAZED by everything. I was under the twisted impression India, and everything in it, was spiritual.
I've now realised that there are a lot of spiritual people in India, more than any place I've been, but India is an upcoming global democracy, running on 19th century governing systems, and a lot of people are being screwed by a corrupt system everyday.
Thank God for the yogis and the sadhus, no-one knows what India would be like without them.
Maybe back to feudal Moghul rule or something.

And Nick, your hanging fruit basket is on the way. Is Burnt Orange okay for the colour?

Greetings "passingby", ShantiMayi here.
I am certain that you did not speak to any of the people in my satsanghs. We do not claim to be Hindus at all. Many different religions and spiritual pathways as well as people who have no religion at all make up the body of wonderful people who have been with me for many years.
I have been in Rishikesh, actually Laxmanjula for over 20 years.
I was there before even one hotel was built.
I am not "pretending" anything at all...just there for those who wish to be there. Blessings to your further travels. I would suggest as you "passby" to invest your heart in the places and people you visit and then, and then alone, you will truly experience what is being offered to you.
May you be well and joyous
ShantiMayi

Oh you are in Laxmanjula, i thought you were in the US? Anyway there is no argument at all with the above statement and how true it works.

Honestly, truly i thought about your Dyson today and how it would be to bring one in. Prompted by Bharti sweeping the house, which mostly consists of stirring up dust so that it resettles elsewhere late on- I wondered if the Dyson would do better? He was a West Ham fella Dyson!!

It's funny how many people think that dusting consists of flapping a cloth at the dust so that it flies into the air! The other tendency that I fight is to think that, as it is a dirty job, it must not be done with a clean cloth

But hey, easy for me to talk, as I sit on my back side and watch
