Sacred sounds in india
Namaste , I am going to be creating a tour ( based on the healing power of sound) into india next year and would like to get any suggestions as to either where I can take my clients to make sounds in sacred places with nice acoustics, I know their is a place in New delhi , i remember their is some park that has 2 beautiful domes structures in the middle of the park , which i would love to know the name of that ?
I also would like to know if anyone could share with me where the temple is that has Auming happening 24 hours a day? I am open to hearing about any other sacred sites that might be of interest to vibrational sound healing lovers? Thanks |

Do you perhaps mean the Bahai temple in South Delhi
http://www.pilgrimage-india.com/nort...ai-temple.html Personally I doubt that any active temple where worship is happening would welcome a troop of tourists coming in making strange sounds. You should talk to the pujaris first in a humble way, saying that you would like to do it as an offering for the deities present (if done in a Hindu temple), and ask for the time when you could come. Be sure to give a generous monetary donation. A nice place to visit, with some of the most impressive devotional melodies sung in all of India by the general public visiting is the large and luxurious Govinda Mandir at Jaipur, in the Royal Palace garden. Go there early morning for Mangala-arati, around 4 a.m., stay until at least 7 a.m. There are other famous, but less visited temples at Jaipur, like the Gopinath Mandir, with exquisite art decorations, where you might be able to do your thing. Same in Vrindavan. There are many beautiful temples owned by families of pujaris. They might be ready to welcome you if you talk to them beforehand. |

You are asked to be silent at the Bahai temple. Not much opportunity to test the acoustics. Perhaps the domes in the park you were thinking of is Lodhi Gardens?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lodhi_Gardens I was there 10 days ago, didn't think to test out the acoustics, though! |

You may make sacred sounds at St. Paul's Cathedral, Calcutta.
Dioscesian particulars are available through the Church of North India website: http://www.cnisynod.org/ |

India has its own sacred sounds: if you get close enough to listen to the temple chanting...

My favorite is the voice of the "puja lady" drifting across the lake in Pushkar, first thing in the morning. I believe it's a common recording (though I have never been able to find out where to get it) and I find it very haunting.

Did you do your sacred sound journey this year, and how was it? Where did you go?

caves 20 minutes outsite Nasik
Some years ago I took a bus to a place about 20 minutes outsite Nashik (Maharastra). I think it is in the Lonely planet. There were about 20 handmade caves in a hill.
The acoustics were great. Just me on my own, with little effort, I could fill some huge caves with very nice, and full sounds. Last edited by Joph : Apr 17th, 2008 at 02:48. |
