| The good and divine Rajneesh was hallucinating on his bed after his first shot of LSD. During his trip he muttered: "why should I bother to seek enlightment when I can have THIS?". A follower who heard that, thought: "why should I follow this guy if he's not enlightened?"

| Been to Osho! I've been to Osho 4 times...first time for a month in 1998, second time for 5 months in 1999, third time for a couple of weeks in 2002 and finally, a couple of days just a few months ago. The first time I liked it enough to want to go back...the second time I was on a long trip to India and just thought that Pune would be a good place to spend an extended period of time...I had 1.5 years in India that time and I was with a few friends and made many more friends and felt like part of the "community" you can say. I wasn't in the ashram every single day...maybe 60% of the time, but enjoyed the community and the life and everything else that is going on outside of the ashram as well. I was there for long enough to see all the good that one can get out of it...and all the not-so-good things that go on there too but all in all it was a great experience. When I returned back in 2002 prices had gone up quite a bit. I felt that it had lost some of the charm that it had just a few years back...and when I went back a few months ago, just to see some friends I wasn't even interested in going inside...it just seemed like a commercial resort. Upon saying all this though...it still could be considered a good vacation spot...the classes are good, the facilities are amazing, clean, modern and beautiful and I'm sure that if you just see it as a "meditation resort", you'll have a good time. |

| Mega | I'm gonna have to be negative on this one My apologies on the outset Osho's works and teachings are incredible ...His books are quite inspiring ..There is no getting awat from that However his followers leave a lot to be desired The Pune ashram is a spiritual playground for the rich sorry spirtiual fulfilment comes at a very expensive price ...Only the rich deserve liberation as far as I can see by the logic Where did donations for teachings go???!!!?? I've spoke to many ex followers the name for them escapes me and most have turned their back on it due to the actions & reactions of the followers Sorry for being so negative Bryan

| Actually, I thought rather well of him (notice the difference between the empire that has grown up and the former Marathwada University Philosophy professor). I don't think he took it that seriously as well. Anyway, I always admire a professor who retires rich.. |

| As Sannyassin I recommend you meet with Osho in whatever form. For me it is and has been a loving experience. But, its something very personal. I went a few years back and hear that the resort has changed a lot and become quite expansive. I know from Osho's discourse during white robe, that some people feel an open heart towards this beloved master, while others don't. Besides, indeed Pune as a city has some nice stuff happening in it, and some older Sannyassins who live in the area have some great stories to share. When I was there, there were fantastic things happening at the Buddha Hall. Not just Osho's meditations, but concerts from world musicians, ectetra. |

| Osho! Osho! Osho! HA HA HA HA HA OSHO! OSHO! OSHO! I've been. I travelled all the way from the afghan border to Pune in one long journey, so inspired was I by Osho's teachings. Rarely have I been so let down by a place in my life.Talk about Club meditation. It was like everyone had read a different version of Osho's books than me. I tried to fit in, to enjoy the white robe progressive rock ceremony. The whole thing broke in a moment of astounding clarity. I walked round the place and realised noone looked happy. I was suddenly aware of the middle aged men who would pounce on any naieve young girl who came in in vain attempts to educate them in the art of free love. After loving Osho so much from his books I found myself running faster and faster away from his Pune folly (or ashram as some call it) As I ran over a bridge into a market place I sat down, looked up to see normal Indians all round me laughing and laughing. It struck me like a bolt of lightning the difference between inside the ashram which is worth millions of pounds, but noone was smiling, and outside where most of the people hardly had anything, or a clue about where they were going but were laughing their heads off. Since then I have met quite a few really nice sanyasins who tell me that christmas is a much better time to be in Pune (I went in June) All the Goa heads are there and free loving is easier if that is what you are after. Go, judge for yourself and post on this forum and don't forget that one of the best reiki teaching schools in the country is just round the corner. OSHO! OSHO! OSHO! |

| What is left Me too, I had to visit this place and I was not too fond of The place is actually great and the price is reasonable for what you are getting. It is a mere 9 Euro:-) The place is for shure unique. The people are not too interesting I found. There are nowadays lots of russian people, some Koreans Japanese and quite a few indians, that walk around very selfconciously and are trying to "persuade" western cuties to have some oshoic sex with them. The place has definitely an intrinsic vibe, that you cannot miss. The meditations are good. The dynamic meditaion i the morning at 6 oclock is very intense. Some people make it a bit of a show to shout and act like madpersons. But where else can you see hundreds of people going conciously berserk every day at an exact time ? :-) I guess people who are fond of Osho must visit it and see what the place offers them. Do not trust anyone, see it for yourself, or trust me! For RollsRoyce fans there is a little goodie nicely stored in an aircon room... |

I have been actively meditating in my own way and have been following teachings of Gurudeo Ranade quite actively. The ashram is located in a very very remote village of India. More on that can be found here - http://gurudevranade.com/gmhis.html | ||

| The OP is a tad shy of it's fourth anniversary. Sarah & Sis were most likely 'initiated' into the cashram & it's offerings many moons ago. ![]()
