online yoga

Hello to all fellow yogis! I just thought i would pass this on as it is so good.

I live in the middle of nowhere in the UK (north wales) and have had little access to a yoga teacher the last few years unless i've been visiting london or india!

I was put onto a website called yogatoday which provides a free one hour yoga lesson every day and it has been a god-send. I love the yoga they teach and the teachers are themselves very very good and professional. It takes a slight mental leap to get into doing yoga online but after a few minutes it seems quite normal practising with a laptop at the top of my mat! I realise that this is in no way the same as going to classes but for those of us unable to attend a regular class it is great.

Anyway, why not give it a go. I'd be interested to hear what people think...

okay, I tried the beginners class. Never did any yoga like this before, so i AM a beginner

I liked the session, but of course the were some things I couldnt do properly. But I guess thats the beginning....Otherwise it seems like a very nice way to get introduced with yoga.
I actually built up a little sweat too. Cool site imo

glad you liked it Suneh though i should add their idea of 'beginners' is not my idea! I have been doing yoga for years and find some of their beginners classes pretty full-power!

To be honest, i guess i would not really advise learning yoga from anything other than a real flesh and blood teacher but, i guess, if this gets people interested then that's not such a bad thing. But yoga practiced 'badly' can easily be injurious to the body and so i really would advise real yoga classes before getting into online yoga.

I would say that your problem is connection speed. The secret is to start the video you want and immediately pause it for a while to give it the chance to buffer. You can see how much it has buffered as the grey line beneath the video gradually darkens...hope that helps
