Smile Kundalini yoga in India

Hi. I want to find an inexpensive kundalini (yogi bhajan) school or centre which gives lessons and/or courses, but on a drop-in basis (for the lessons.) And ideally with a website so I can get some idea of what is on offer and costs etc. before I arrive.

I have been told that Kundalini is not much taught in India by Indians as it is more a secret tradition, and that it is more likely Westeners who will teach it. The problem then is that a lot of schools are geared towards well off Westeners rather than less well off Westeners. The ideal would be to find an inexpensive school with a passionate teacher!

I hope to go for between 1 - 4 months perhaps from January 2012.

If it's a secret I doubt you'll find anyone genuine with a website about it. Be very careful it can & usually does lead to permanent psychological & physiological damage when forced to rise, if it's going to rise at all it should be a gentle natural process which can take many years at a subtle level.

Hi, Actually I mentioned a Yogi Bhajan Kundalini school or someone trained and teaching in that method. This is not secret in the West. It's totally open - there is a teacher in the small English town I live in. It's not sensationalist stuff but a serious practise of transformation.
I understand Kundalini is secret in India because certainly in the Hindu tradition a Guru isn't considered credible unless celibate, (even if he or she was a 'householder' at some point.) It's a bit like in Christianity Catholic priests not being allowed to get married although this is not an exact example.

I know i live in UK too. Yogi Bhajan is a Indian selling Kundalini methods enmasse to westerners.

It's dangerous to open the Chakra's with force which is what he's suggesting & it usually leads to long term psychological & physiological damage.
You sound a little confused through lack of knowledge on this subject. I'm trying to explain to you it's dangerous to play with fire!!! Read the link from my previous post.KK

Om Purnamadah Purnamidam
Purnat Purnamudachyate
Purnasya Purnamadaya
Purnamevavashishate
Om Shanti, Shanti, Shanti

Om-That is whole. This is whole
From the whole the whole becomes manifest.
From the whole when the whole is negated
What remains is again the whole.

To get back to my original question I would like to know whether any member here knows of a place where I can study Yogi Bhajan Kundalini yoga in India. The question wasn't about whether it is good to practise or not. And to clarify about secrecy I have never found the teachers in the UK to be anything other than helpful and open. It is that Kundakini yoga in general, but not Yogi Bhajan Kundalini Yoga in particular, is secretive in India or perhaps hidden might be a better word.

You could always go on to the Yogi Bhajan website & contact them to find out if there is one in India. KK

Hi there,
I'm a Kundalini Yoga teacher who is currently in India, Pune to be precise. I've heard there is a teacher in Delhi whose trained by Yogi Bhajan's lineage and I know of a teacher in Arambol, Goa and I believe you'll find a teacher in Rishikesh as well. As far as I know there are no KY schools here as such but you can go to the 3H0 website and check if there are any other teachers listed here. Good luck on your search!

ps. In India its actually easiest to be here and then look for the teachers you want to study with - the path flows in a much more organic way here once you're physically in India. Travel to the places that speak to you and you'll find the teacher you need.
