I've been thrice Blessed . . . the first time: New Years Eve in Varanasi, H.H. was there, as Dasashawamedh Ghat, flood lights very where, people too . . . really wanted to go, but the crowds chased me. Sat instead at a small outdoor restaurant at Asi Ghat and told the story I'd been writing for two months for the first time . . .

McLeod, '92: Got there specifically for Losar. Stood in line, in a light rain, from pre-dawn for hours before the line began to move . . . got into the compound, watched a few people and their protocol, I opted for a light touch of hands, looking into his eyes . . . indelible . . .

Sun Valley, Idaho (my home at the time) he came to Bless a new prayer wheel then held a rally in the high school football stadium for 'the children of Idaho" - they were bussed-in from all parts of the state . . . watched him on the big screen from across the street . . .

Amazing experiences, all

KK . . . it was an amazing possibility . . . but I had been working on this story . . . one that had been eating me alive from the inside . . . I hadn't told anyone the whole story and just HAD to . . . three years later I was in Dharamsala, and we officially 'met'

Notice the way that DL waits for KK to put the scarf?

Now, he's a busy man, he's got schedule, and he also seems like a man who is not fond of nonsense, so I'm not suggesting he would have stayed there all day, but the way that he waited, and gave his attention to KK, for that period of time: that is a mark of a special person.
