Iyengar Yoga Experience???

Hi guys!

where would be the best place in Goa or South of India to practise Iyengar Yoga. I'd like to join a class for a week or more.

Thanks!

wouldn't the "Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute" in Pune be the best choice ?

There are a lot of good and dedicated Iyengar teachers in Mumbai and also there is the Iyengar institute in Mumbai where they conduct regular cllasses. One week is not long enough to learn anything or to even get a glimpse. You would require anything between 3-4 weeks to get some basic understanding .

I myself have been studying Iyengar yoga under a senior teacher since the pst 6 years. So if you are interested in coming to Mumbai then let me know

Namaste,
this is Anna - also interested in Iyengar schools (i do practice Iyenagar - two years now, but not enough to enter the Pune center). If you could possibly give me some suggestions and advice, would be very nice. I'll be spending almost 40 days in India and I'm trying to make some plans.
thanks
ciao

Hi Anaa
Nor sure if you are also just going south or all over but if you're in Rishikesh, Omkarananda Ashram is great for Iyengar. Teacher is Usha Devi whi is strict but good & yoga room as well as accom are really nice.

Thanks a lot!
I'm in fact gathering ideas and suggestions - the only thing I'm sure is that I'm flying on Dehli and preferably move south.

As far as you know, is anything worth (in terms of yoga schools/centers) in the Dehli area?
ciao!
Anna

There is yoga institute in Delhi and the teacher is pretty good. This place is pretty popular among russian yoga practitioners.I was there but decided not to stay and moved to Rishikesh which is just 6-8 hours by bus from Delhi. There is Iyengar yoga teacher at Rishikesh whose yoga study centre was built with the financial help of italians. When I practiced there i met an italian ( he wanted to teach yoga in Italy and probably is teaching). He afterwards moved to Pune to practice though he didn't meet admission criteria. He said that you can practice at Iyengar's institute but with less qualified teachers than iyengar's son or daughter. Not shure about correctness of this information.
