hi all,

According to Vedic Astrology, the maturing of the harmful results due to our past actions are indicated by inauspicious planetary conjunctions, such as the dasa, apahara and dasa sandhi of Saturn, Mars, and Rahu etc. During these periods, the aura (the luminous astral sheath permeating the body of every being), which holds the subtle imprint of one's thoughts and actions like a video tape, becomes dark and obstructs all progress as though one is groping in the dark.

The vibration of the person falls out of harmony with that of others, resulting in discord, hostility and conflict. During these times, a person is most likely to suffer from misfortunes such as accidents, untimely death, disease, financial, career and family problems, etc. The course of fate, caused by our own wrong action in past, can be changed by right actions in the present, by prayers and by Divine Grace. Practice of spiritual and moral values in one's daily life, cultivation of virtues, compassion, love, performance of certain rites and chanting the appropriate mantras with devotion, all help the aura to get purified, become less dense and effulgent, easing one's way through life.
The Science of Light

Astrology is called Jyotish in Sanskrit, which means 'science of light'. Astrology is considered to be the eye of the Vedas.

Jyotish is the science of understanding the subtle influences that come to us from the universe. These influences are a reflection of the law of karma. Here, both fate and free will are at play. Fate means that our present circumstances are the result of our actions from previous lives. The external events of our lives are ruled by past karma - over this we have little control. Free will means that our future is shaped by our actions in the present. Jyotish holds that sadhana (spiritual practises) help neutralise the effects of karma.

The main upayas (remedial measures) of Jyotish are also spiritual and consist of ritual, mantra and meditation. Worship of the planets through puja (ritual worship) and other prescribed measures is an integral part of Jyotish. Each planet has a deity, whose name can be chanted, and associated articles, which can be offered in worship or given in charity.

Jyotish can help us to understand how to optimise our potential so our lives develop according to our true destiny. It gives us an idea of the trends and periods of life - when to act, how to act and when not to act. It helps us to understand our weaknesses, where we may need to put extra attention in order to attain fullness in our lives. It offers practical remedial measures that can help to alleviate areas of difficulty in the chart.

BUT:

When you have a guru....

And you are completely surrendered to the Guru, then the planets stop acting and the Guru takes over completely when that happens there is no need for astrology or pujas.

But thats takes a lot!!! And there are only very few.
