Is Astrology for real?
Hi folks,
This question always eluded me. Even though I look for facts for anything I need to believe in, there are some things which I just cannot explain with science. One such amazing thing is "ASTROLOGY" (remember not astronomy even though they are linked somewhat in the concept). I have seen some amazing details with accuracy told by some astrologers in India (either about things happening to a country in the future or how a person changes in the future etc). I now feel, there must be two reasons to explain this vedic science (as the hindus put it), either it is an amazing coincidence or there must be some effect of planets on human beings. Science does believe in the later explanation. So, does anyone has any ideas of how astrology really works with amazing accuracy? How did the ancient Hindus learn to grasp such a science? or Is it completely hoax? Last but not least, did anyone hear about Bejan Daruwala? If so, what do you think about him? I'll look forward for your open-minded replies on this topic. Thank you --Shekhar |

you have answered your question:
"modern science doesn't have answer for everything;" and that is the area where astrology works. Its just like God, nobody has seen him/her , but most of us do believe he/she exists. I believe its science. Even if you think that its nothing more than making fool of people; but then making fool is an art and there is science behind every art. Just think how great psychologists these astrologers are; they can make you believe that a ball of stones/metals/gases/etc. can change your life from thousands of light years away even if there is no life on itself ![]()

Most probably it is the astrologer's ability to foretell certain aspects of your future by observing your present demeanor, current state of mind , and details of your past. Package it all with the obligatory smoke and mirrors from the movements and motions of the heavenly bodies and an astute people person has themselves a gig. Are they ever right? - yeah even a blind squirrel can find a nut or two!

Astrology may be for real. But I have yet to meet someone who can predict the future accurately.

I know an astrologer who can generate teh horoscope and list down the future with just birth date , time and place. He neednt see or know the person or his/her name!
May be its a science and we just dont understand completely. Imagine how a village beggar would think about how an online trading really works if you demo it to him!!!!! |

I was once told by an astrologer I travelled with (he was a Romany gypsy) that on a particula day I should be careful as there was a major chance of cutting myself!!
I didn't the boss did and he, we later found out shared my birth date!! I'm not knowledgable enough about astrology to see the science in this but it really took me by suprise!! Last edited by cyberhippie : Apr 11th, 2006 at 01:31. |

I agree with PeakXV's assessment, most astrologers are quacks. Especially those who try to sell you amulets and crystals to ward off evil spirits. |

Yes and Santaclaus exists
They did do a nice experoiment in the Netherlands with astrologers. From a given three page profile they had to tell what the birthsign was. Result less than one out of twelve was right. Even less than might be expected form a sheer gamble.
And imagine. You read your horoscope in the paper in the morning and you know that 500 million people will experience exactly the same as you during the day. Nice science astrology... Hans ![]()

Astrology is real and their is no question about it. But it not astrology which determines your fate. Before reading this Great book , I was under the impression that what ever the astrologer says , we shall become..but that is not the case after reading the below book.
If you read " Vasistha Yoga", Vasistha Clearly says to Rama , that man is the maker of destiny not fate. If you are not able to attain somethins then you are not putting more effort to attain. If you just wait for things to happen it is fate... Thanks. |

I went to an astrologer on a whim in Chennai this last time and he told me -- among other things that he shockingly got right -- that I will die at the age of 82 of a "peaceful death", no suffering. hey, that's good to know, lucky me! and that it won't be in the USA.....

astro
the first thing we must ask. Do we have a preditermined destinty. Is there a reason one man is born rich and one poor? Or one lady born beatyiful, another born not so pretty? Is there affects to are actions? If we can accept these things, then how is this controled, if its not random?
The fact that someone can predict the future and another person can not, is not a reflection of wheather astrology is real or not. In this age we live, I believe the really great astrologers are chosing not to incarnate. |

1st Mughal Babur lost a major battle heeding the advice of his astrologer. That was the end of his use of them, and the beginning of the Indian Mughal Empire.

I fail to see how the position of the planets at the time of your birth can have any influence on your life whatsoever.
Yeah, I know - "A Capricorn would say that". That's the usual answer I get. ![]()
