Has anyone already met a guru in India??
I met one in Varanasi last year. He told me many many exact things about my past. He didn't commit any mistake. It was so amazing.. I could not realize this scene. It was like in a dream, very very weird. This guru was about 80, came from a region of Himalaya by foot. His eyes were so blue, unforgetable.. The most strange is that he told me I would create a business and it is what i'm going to do. 2 friends saw this man and things predicted already happened.. My life seems different since I saw this man. I very often think of the predictions. Tell me your stories if you are concerned. Thanks Last edited by machadinha : Dec 15th, 2006 at 22:31. My English mother could have told you things about yourself and your past --- and was known to be astonishingly accurate about things in peoples futures! I've known several people with this sort of ability. I was born to one; I chose to take classes for some years with another.
But there are people who change one's life! There are people who give a certain energy, or maybe, if you're lucky, a certain wisdom to go with it. Sometimes you only need to meet them once, maybe you need to spend some time with them, or learn from them. But just because someone is clairvoyant doesn't make them an angel, or even a good or a wise person --- however accurate they are! So, my message on this one is, be careful what you use to judge! The development of these skills is not the same as spiritual or personal development. But as this is India we are talking about, yes! When I saw Amma (Kerala's Mata Amritanadamaya) on television, I knew I had to meet her. I don't feel the need to join the ashram, or even to regularly read her writings --- but the several occasions on which I have received her hugs have been very special occasions indeed ![]() And then, of course, there is my guru, who I have called Guruji for the last ten years: my music teacher! Because, in india, your teacher is your guru; guru means teacher.

In my understanding, the word guru is composed to two root words, one meaning 'light' the other, 'dark' . . . a guru, in that sense, is someone who leads you from darkness to light. I'm with Nick here, my bansuri teacher is my guru.
