getting married in india

does anybody know if it is difficult to arrange to get married in India. My boyfriend and I are christian - can we get married by a priest but not in a church. Are there celebrants in India who will marry us at a place of our choice. If anyone can tell us anything helpful we would really appreciate it.

Friends of mine got married at a Buddhist mission outside Delhi with little or no problem, though I do not know if they got a "proper license" or even if it would be legal when they got back to their home country.

It was, however, a truly great party!

Yes you can get married by license . I attended one such wedding , a hotel room with 12 guests in 2000. It was a Christian wedding (either one party must be Christian) . You "donate" Rs.3000/- to the priest for his services. You need 4 witnesses (2 for either side) and passports to serve as your proof of permanent address and a temporary address in India. The process of getting it registered takes a week and costs Rs.1000/- or thereabouts and requires the services of a lawyer.

Yep possible..even if u want a Hindu marriage with all the vedic chants..
Arya samaj, an branch of Hinduism, do carry out such marriages. They are legally valid and if required can get the legal doc ready.
