Festivals in India
I'm not sure where else to post this, but has anyone been in India during Eid or Ghandi Jayanti.
I will be in Agra/Bharatpur for Ghandi Jayanti and in Rishikesh for Eid and was wondering what I should expect in terms of celebrations, travel and opening hours. Thanks Louise |

Nothing..Gandhi Jayanti is a Natioanl Holiday and there are no celebrations as well, barring the political stuff...
Eid in Rishikesh, again nothing at all...Rishikesh is a important in Hindu religion...so nothing extraordinary or noticeable for Eid.. |

Find some Kashmiri sales fellows and tag along with them to Eid celebration. Even Rishikesh must have Kashmiri stores!

Thanks - will have a wander and see if I can find some muslims!
Was quite surprised about Ghandi Jayanti. Saying that, it's not like we really do anything here in the UK on Bank Holiday Mondays other than decorate!  |

The Politicians will visit his resting Place and close their eyes ( Wonder what they are thinking ) and most of the cities will have a Gandhi square where his statue will be garlanded. Apart from that, nothing much.
