Favorite ashram/meditation center in northern India?

Hi Guys,

After recovering my digestive health back here in the States, I'm making my way back to India this August for another go at a lengthy stay. Hoping for the best.

My plan is to spend most of my time in the south, but being that I'm flying into Delhi, and wish to avoid the heat and monsoons of the south until October, I was looking for some ashram/meditation center recommendations for a few months in the north.

Basically, where have you been? Any locale thats in the mountains would be a plus. Somewhere in northern Uttaranchal would be a double-plus, as I'd like to do some general exploring in this area too after the rains are through. Otherwise, I'm not so concerned about the weather, as I'll mostly be indoors.

So there's no overlaps, I've been to:

-Sri Aurobindo ashram, Delhi
-Tushita Meditation Center, Dharamkot
-Mahabodhi Meditation Center, Leh
-Sri Aurobindo ashram, Nainital
-Various ashrams, Rishikesh
-Anasakti ashram, Kausani

I was fond of many of these, outside of the majority of the Rishikesh ashrams, and would go back again. But, I am always curious to learn about new places. Please let me know where you've been!

Thanks guys. Much appreciated.

Hi Kullukid,

I agree, that ashram seems really interesting! A good mix of a set routine, time for personal practice, an active community, and what seems like pretty hygenic conditions. I'm still open to other suggestions, but I think this place looks pretty solid. Thanks so much.
