Dharmasala area

Hi ,

I'm going to be about Dharmasala towards the end of AUgust and am interested in exploring monasteries in the area. I know Dharmasala has a few but am just wondering are there any further north and how difficult they are to reach. I should have about 6 weeks or so , so any suggestions would be great.

You could check out the Buddhist settlement Bir where there are lots of monasteries,it's further along the Kangra valley around 3hrs from D'sala. From there you could head to Rewalsar Lake 1hour from Mandi halfway between D'sala & Shimla,again it's a buddhist settlement & major pilgrimage place for Buddhists,it's where Padmasambhava did penance in caves before heading for Tibet to spread Buddhism,you can visit the caves which are in a spectacular setting about 40mins by bus above the lake.KK

well as such yu are going to dharamsala,yu can definately visit osho center,they are conducting various programmes ranging from 4 nights to 21 nights.
yu must take a look.i go there almost twice in the year since last 4 years.
