Buddhist Centers in India/Nepal

Hi all,

I am planning a trip out to India next month in order to further my Spiritual practice, and am in the process of finding places to meditate and study. I will be going to Dharamsala next month to hear HH the Dalai Lama give teachings, and then will explore that region to do more meditation and dharma study.

This will be my second time out there, last year, I had gone to the Root Instititute in Bodh Gaya, and did some vipassana in the tradition of SN Goenka.

I wanted to find meditation centers/places of study that perhaps give longer courses/allow opportunties for Westerners with a bit of experience to take their practice to the next level.

I like FPMT, but if anyone knows of centers in the tibetan Kagyu tradition, that would be helpful. Any monastic universities that give teachings to Westerners would be great, too.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Talking Learn about Buddhism

Hey,

If u plan to stay in D'sala longer and want to learn things, meditation , Buddhism etc....u can stay at the Main Monastery..but, u need to get a booking.

Contact: Kunjo Tashi
Foundation for Universal Responsibility of His Holiness,
The Dalai Lama, Core 4 A, UGF India Habitat Centre, Lodhi Road New Delhi 110 003 ...
www.furhhdl.org/gurukul.htm
Tél : 91-(11) 2464-8450 . Fax : 91-(11)-2464-8451 . Email :furhhdl@fur.tibetnet.ernet.in , furhhdl@vsnl.com, ktashi@hotmail.com

I think if u contact Mr. Kunjo Tashi, u should be able to get acco at the monastery or any other place linked to the foundation. Even if Kunjo is not attached to this place, right now, someone else should be able to help you.

You can read my travelogue on Dharamsala, it should be of help to you.
