Birthplace of Lahiri Mahasaya
Hi!
Has anyone visited the birthplace of Lahiri Mahasaya in Ghurni ( a suburb of Krishnanagar town in West Bengal, India). It is also world-famous for its clay idols. I was just wondering about this place as I live only a few hours away in Kolkata! Lahiri Mahasaya was the famous saint from Varanasi who spread the teachings of Kriya Yoga all over India. |

Thanks prascocyte for mentioning Lahiri Mahasay, very few people know about him these days and apart from the clay idols Krishnagar is also famous for Shor bhaja which is a typical & unique sweet.

I have been to Krishnagar (normally spelled without a second na, as jyotirmoy does) a number of times for visa extension and other purposes, like making a phone call which in the 80ies could be done only in cities; it is the district headquarter. What caught my attention there was the number of Catholics, esp. Mother Theresa's sisters on the road. It is a major center of Christian activity, also from other Catholic orders. You can go there by taking a train from Sealdah.

Thanks!
Thanks everyone for your reply. But I have found out that the place where He lived still exists.
