Ashrams in Southern India

Hi,

My friend and I are looking for an Ashram in the south, either Kerala or Tamil Nadu, to stay for a month next year. We are both beginners in yoga, but are very serious in learning more about yoga, meditation and spirituality. We want somewhere that we would feel comfortable as two young Western females, but do not want to get caught in an expensive tourist trap or scam. I have had a recommendation to go to Pondicherry, but it sounds like a large centre and I would like somewhere with some more guidance. I was looking at the Sivananda centre as well but that seems like it only runs 2 week programs. Does anyone have any suggestions for me?

Thank you

Forget Ramana maharshi ashram. Its in tiruvanamallai and is almost now a tourist attarction

Id highly recommend Sivananda at least as a start. Its about 50km out of Trivandarum neaqr niyyar dam. Its a great intro. Youll love it
