Ashrams & Homestays in Kerala, Goa, Tamil Nadu?

We'll be in South Feb and March...any ashram recommendations..we'd like to spend some time in an ashram for yoga, but also considering ashram and homestays instead of hotels? any recommendations...simple is ok as long as it's clean

Sivananda is a good ashram but very crowded nowadays.Tulasidalam is the other yoga ashram in kerala which is good.the asana practice is highly recommended and the yoga philosophy interpretations and practice is deep and open, fitting comfortably for the modern age.

I looked at Tulasidalam but even the 10day yoga vacation is 420 Euros. that's much to expensive for us, and we also don't want to be at a place that's too commercialized. is there another one you're referring to?

Sivananda, Ramakrishna Mission, or Chinmayananda (http://www.chinmayamission.com/ashrams.php), that is where I would put my money.
