Ashram for bipolar treatment

Good day to you!

I am looking for an ashram in Northern India preferably (to be able to spend the hot season there too without problems), where one can have bipolar disorder treatment through ayurveda and /or yoga. Please, if anyone has any experience on this, keep me posted. luvislite@gmail.com

I’m sure that it could help, but be sure it is a competent therapist. While with ayurveda with a formal university degree required one can probably be more confident (if he has all the necessary credentials, of course, don’t go for a „therapist“ without them). With yoga I would be more careful. The fact is that there were people (some I know personally) who had no problems before starting the practice, at least not visi-ble problems, but ended their „yoga careers“ on the psychiatry. Any psycho-spiritual method, basically anything that manipulates the mind and body can help, but also harm. And with the popularity of yoga and the inflation of „teachers“ and „gurus“ without a controlled system of education one should approach this carefully. However even changing the environment sometimes does wonders in many cases, and if you are able to find someone competent it will be of great help for sure.

You may checkout the Patanjali Yogapeeth which is an ashram with a modern Ayurvedic hospital. Very soon they are going to start a medical school too. www.divyayoga.com/patanjali.htm
