Anyone been to Tushita Meditation Centre - Mcleod Ganj?

Hello and namaste to all the fuzzy, masala people of Indiamike after a long time..

Anyone who has gone (or knows anything about) Tushita Meditation Centre above mcleod ganj, please help me. PLS

How much does the 10-day introduction to buddhism course at Tushita cost? Do they even charge anything at all?

If they do charge something (in name of donation) how much is it for Indians and non-Indians?

Looking into the void, hoping someone will enlighten me on this...

Dhamma courses are generally free, but some ask a donation for food and lodging. Apparently the ten day courses here are on a donation basis.

I spent about two weeks at the Tushita Meditation Center in late September. There is some construction in the works at the moment, but otherwise its a very peaceful environment suited to your practise. Guests are typically only allowed to stay at the center during retreat times, and shortly thereafter while you make your onward plans. How much they charge depends on what kind of room you stay in. The 4-bed dorms are very nice in my opinion, and during retreat times, you are in silence, so no need to worry about ongoing noise. As an average, plan on spending about 500 rupees a day for each day of the course. Well worth it for a beginner looking to broaden their intellectual and practical understanding (through lecture, group discussion and meditation) of Mahayana Buddhism. Enjoy!

I don't know about the 10 day course, but I'm registered for the 8 day intro to buddhism one and they ask for a donation of 2360 rs.

Hi, I can also thoroughly recommend the courses at Tushita Meditation centre, but due to the very cold winters in HP it usually closes from around late Oct to March (but please check the web site given in thread above for exact dates).
The 'Buddhist scene' generally moves to Bodhgaya in Bihar state during the winter months where the weather is milder than the Himalayas (but still can get cold at night/early am).

The Root Institute in Bodhgaya also offers similar courses to those in Tushita and belongs to the same organisation (The Federation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition, or FPMT).
To check out the courses (including teachings by the amazing co-founder of the FPMT, Lama Zopa Rinpoche,from 23rd Dec, just check:
www.fpmt.org (then click on 'Centres' and then 'India' then 'Root Institute' (or any of the other many FPMT centres around the world).

as far as i know, it closes in late november and opens back up in the beginning of january...
