My wife and I have to a fro tickets to New Jalpaiguri. We reach there on the 20th and return for our bus there on the 24th.
We have planned namchi and ravangla because in this short notice there seem to be no hotels in darjeeling. What according to veteran travellers will be the best option? When does the bus leave siliguri for Namchi? Is it cold now in Namchi? Thank you and bye. PS Any other itinerary suggestion by anyone. ( Also heard darjeeling is too crowed!) |

The mountain view from Ravangla is awsome, a beautiful quiet place. I recommend this place.

Namchi & ravangla
Thanks for the two replies.
But problem with gangtok is that since i am leaving in three days, i find that all the hotels have been booked. I have been able to get rooms at Ravangla and Namchi. Could u pls tell me how to manage the two places. We do not want to rush about seeing many places; just a few. 20th --- reaching siliguri bus stand, morn by 7 am Then where and how? Is it cold in Namchi now? Thanks. |

The possibility of finding a veg restaurant in Ravangla or Namchi seems bleek. However for your travel you could try getting a shared Taxi (Sumo) from New Jalpaiguri Station. There is a prepaid Taxi stand just outside the station. Not sure about the bus timimgs. In case you dont mind spending a little extra money for comfort sake you could also hire an Indica for yourself. You can also hire that from the same prepaid.
If you by chance happen to go to Gangtok for a visit there is a very nice veg restaurant on the Mall Road called "Rasoi". Btw where have you booked in Ravangla. During our trip to Sikkim we also planned to go to Ravangla and stay in the Mt Narsing Resort (as I had heard a lot bout it) but coudn't make it because of shoratge of time. Anyways Have Fun |

A hotel called Meghmala or Minmala! I just have their phone number. We will be getting down at Tenzing Bus stand. So from there we have to take a rickshwa, right ? To the station and how much will the Indica cost? And lastly, is it cold there? thanks.

If you get down at Siliguri bus stand (i assume you are coming by bus), then there is no need to go back to NJP railway station. u will get a number of travel agents/prepaid taxi for the route.
ALthough crowded, There are plenty of low cost hotels in Galgtok adn Darjeeling, which cannot be booked in advance. You can always get a place. Lodging will not be a problem. But Ravangla is silent and beatiful, a good place. Be there. There will be little cold as you are in the hills. If it rains, it will definitely chill. take raincoat + jacket. ![]() |

Mt Narsing Resort is a great place to stay. If possible visit the tea plantation at Temi. It is the only place in Sikkim where tea grows. They will be happy to show you how the tea leaves are processed. There is a Raj style bungalow here where you can spend a night in absolute bliss.

Ravangla
Can anyone here give me the contact number of Hotel Mt. Narsing of Ravangla? Actually I like to go there at the second week of coming Dec. So i think advance booking required. Is this hotel booked over phone? How could we go there frm NJP once we get down from Darjeling Mail at NJP? What r the places to visit there in Ravangla? It will be of immense help for me if anyone of you here please response to my above mentioned questions.
