Thumbs up

Hello Suparna,
I am travelling to Gangtok this April and have booked north sikkim tour for 2 nights 3 days. My itinerary is like this:

20 April: Reach Bagdogra Airport by 1 pm. Take taxi to Gangtok.
21 April: Leave for North Sikkim Tour.
23 April: Reach Gangtok in afternoon and spend over night.
24 April: Leave Gangtok and reach Darjeeling stay over night.
25 April: Leave Darjeeling and reach Siliguri stay over night.
26 April: Catch flight at 12 noon to Mumbai from Bagdogra.

During my research on this tour I came across Latpanchar and this got me thinking. Should I skip Darjeeling and Siliguri and go to Latpanchar directly from Gangtok?
I had included over night in Siliguri as I did not want to risk my flight travelling from Darjeeling.

So here are some queries. Please guide me as i'm totally confused.
1) Would it be hectic to do Latpanchar after North Sikkim?
2) If doing Latpanchar, would we be able to make it to airport by atleast 10 am in morning?

Thank you in advance.

Hello T18,

Gangtok first and Darjeeling later will make the tour frustrating. Sikkim is so beautiful and clean & Darjeeling is dirty and chaotic - so at the end it would be disappointing. Being a frequent traveler to that zone, I would request you to reverse the plan or omit Darjeeling, if possible.

Your itinerary is mostly fine, except few small issues...
1. On 23rd, you'll not reach Gangtok within afternoon. It'd be around 6 - 8 PM when you'll reach Gangtok :P
2. I do understand that you don't want to risk your flight, but you can prebook a vehicle at 6AM and then you can easily reach Bagdogra within 9AM. It's okay, if you don't want to take that risk. You can do the morning sunrise sightseeing and after breakfast go for 5 point sightseeing and then you can proceed to Siliguri.

Now for your questions...

1. No. Gangtok - Latpanchar would be around 3 hours. Same as Darjeeling
2. Darjeeling - Bagdogra and Latpanchar - Bagdogra is almost same. Around 3 hours. But here also you have to prebook vehicle to pick you up at 6AM - 7AM in the morning so that you can reach within time.

I beg to differ Sir!! I agree with you that Darjeeling is dirty and chaotic but still Darjeeling has it's own charm specially the heritage colonial charm which attracts lots of tourists.

Darjeeling always have a soft corner in my heart!!

Also if someone wants to avoid the crowd, there are lots of offbeat places around Darjeeling, which is close to the nature!!
