Hi K Bhusan,
From LAVA the Mt. Kanchanganga and other ranges like Nathula are not so closely visible in open eyes even if weather is too good. There is a place near to LAVA called RISHOP, a beautiful small village, from where the ranges of Mt. Kanchanganga and others like Nathula border are quite visible in open eyes in early morning. From LAVA you can reach a spot Tiffindara in RISHOP by trekking or hired jeep to see the Mt. Kanchanganga. Lolegaon WBFDC campus is a good spot for viewing 12 picks in the ranges of Mt. Kanchanganga.
I uploaded my experience and snaps of these three places in IndiaMike.com, so you may follow the links below.

I think cottages Dukpa, Lepcha are located land down forest hill campus of WBFDC. You may also go for Hill Myna located at upper hill of campus. Log Cabin – I is good from all respect but charge is high.

Thanks very much, Sidd! Yes, I do have a plan for Rishap, but I am planning for a morning-evening trek from Lava-Rishap and back, as I have a afternoon flight to catch next day.So, wont be possible for me to stay at Rishap.
OK, I will prefer Log Cabin I and II, as we are two families.
Thanks very much for your advice.

Hi K Bhusan,
Hope you have followed the two links, it has snap of Log Cabin - I from outer and inner side.
Both are separetly located inside stand alone boudaries on hill steps. There is a kitchen near by and the kitchen usually takes advanced order of breakfast/lunch/tiffin/dinner. There are more hotels in LAVA but those are at down steps of the hill. The Orchid hotel (private) is a very good one for having breakfast, lunch, tiffin, dinner. It is at LAVA bus-jeep stand; it is just 5 minutes to reach there in down wards walking from Log cabin - I.
At LAVA bus stand you can find syndicate, you may talk to them to have a good guide and porter for treking Rishop. Kitchen boys of WBFDC can also help you in this regards on asking. While you trek towards Rishop the Lovely resort will come at first. The canteen-boy 'Kailash' (9733061489) of this resort is a very good cook. So you may try. While you trek in morning just give an advance order of lunch and have it on return.
Wish you all the best!!!

I have been planning for lava loleygaon, rishop, kalimpong for more than two years........it's really funny to hear that but still i am not able to go there. Just because of the chaos happening with these political parties. between this i have travelled a lot covering ORISSA AND SIKKIM but din't get much braveness to plan for lava loleygaon. Can anyone tell me if bandh is called in darjeeling distric does it affect this region as this region also falls under darjeeling district? I will travellin with my wife and a daughter of two years of age.

Hi Tapantamitra,
While bandh is declared in either Darjeeling or Dooars then it is not advisable to go over there. As the political party has great influence over there. I visited the place on first week of April, 2010 - the regions are remotely located. So communication is a major factor. Strictly avoid rainy season as well.
For better info yoy may follow below two links...

Hi,The main attraction of LAVA, Lolegaon and Rishop is to try more and more closer with forest. And it is only possible only when you are staying inside of the forest. But there is no private accomodation inside forest in LAVA.

Any one suggest Lava - Lolegaon - Rishop - Lepchajagat etc tour plan with Accomodation, Vehicle cost from NJP / other location please. Hi everybody,
we are planning a weekend trip at rishyap this december. Its a rather big team of 19 adults and two children....
I have a few questions
1. Is change falls worth seeing? how much time does it take to reach from Rishyap?
2. Is there a separate route for going into the core area of Neora Vally national park? if so how much time does it take from rishyap and back?
3. Any sugestions on lodging?
4. Any contact No. for cars for sightseeing or pickup & drop will help...
